NAV unit in trunk

Anyone had issues with the OPEN button not opening the door for access to DVD? Got my updated DVD, go to install, hit OPEN button and nothing happens. Have key in ON position... Would rather not resort to prying method!!!

Yep... it's pretty common I think. That open button for the door is not electrical at all, so having the key in ON position won't do anything. On a properly working door, you can go to the trunk with the car completely off and press the Open button and the door will flip down.

The cause of the stuck door is usually the rubber gasket around the door being distorted somehow and lodging itself tightly against the edges of the door. Your only solution is what you already said... prying. Use a piece of plastic like laminated plastic or thick transparency film and try to get it in the top center of the door and pry. It takes some time and patience if you don't want to scratch up the door, but eventuallly you should be able to get it open. REMEMBER to press and HOLD the Open button too when you are prying or else you may be prying a latched door!!!

Once you get it open, look closely at the rubber gasket around the door and make sure it's all fitted properly in place and fix any bunched up crooked areas before you close the door again. That should solve your problems. I've seen this on 3 different RLs between friends and family.

Hope this helps!
