1.29 Firmware Update Disk Download
I just got my new 2012 Nav update yesterday, and since my 2005 was running original firmware, it came with both the maps and an extra firmware update disk to bring the system to 1.29.00. Originally I just wanted to install that update, but couldn't source it separately from the map update. Couldn't find it online, and the dealer wanted an hour of labor ($60) to do the install (which is ridiculous since all you have to do is pop the disk in and let it sit for about a minute).
At any rate, in the spirit of being a useful new member of the AcuraZine community, I decided to make an image of the firmware update disk to share. I made an iso, and to test it I burned it to a dual layer DVD and used that to update my car. It worked flawlessly. It's a large file (7.5 GB uncompressed, haven't tried compressing yet), but if anyone's interested in downloading it I'll figure out a good way to get it to you. If you have good ideas of how to share a large file like this let me know. If there's no interest I won't bother.

I don't see how this is any different from the thread of people who are sending the disk around. This is a firmware update that we should be able to get for free anyway, and I'm pretty sure Acura has to update your firmware for free if you go to the dealer because of the daylight savings time issue. I just hate the dealer

That's what I thought too, but my dealer here in Boulder wanted to charge an hour of labor, whereas I've heard of other dealers doing it for free. There was no license agreement that I saw anywhere on the update disk, and it's not (to my knowledge) available elsewhere for sale separately from the map disks. All of which makes me think Acura wouldn't mind terribly if we share.

It addresses the issues in TSB 07-022 (you can look it up by following the instructions at https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/2nd-gen-rl-tsb-information-789213/). There's a whole range of things it supposedly fixes, but the most common is the incorrect daylight savings time changeover date.
You might also need this disk if you bought a newer map disk from eBay and it didn't come with the second DVD.
This disk will only work for those of you who are still using one of the first few years' maps, later ones included this update so you'd already have it. I'll post the exact versions this applies to later tonight.

I'm still trying to learn all of the navi stuff so bear with me. In another thread people mentioned not to go to 2012 because the routing is awful. If I install firmware 1.29 it won't route anything awkwardly as has been mentioned, correct? If I do 1.20 with 4.92 maps, I should be okay?
I'd greatly appreciate if this was shared! An FTP site would be awesome.
Thanks!

If you're worried about the 2012 maps, you can indeed stick with the prior disk (4.92). Installing just the firmware won't change routing one way or another. What nav version do you have right now?
You need this disk (1.29 firmware) if your current navigation dvd is version 4.09, 4.11, 4.12, 4.13(A, B, C, 0), or 4.20(A, B) and you want to update to a more recent version. It should also take care of the problems identified in TSB 07-022, but I can't personally vouch for that.
I didn't test if you can install the firmware and then stick with your old nav disk. If someone's planning to update to a new nav disk, could you try this out? Just install the new firmware and then try putting your old nav disk back in and see if it still works.
I do have an FTP site set up, but I'd like to keep the address off the interwebs, so if you'd like it, let me know and I'll send you a PM.

Whoops I meant to say WASN'T! When I tried to use my old disk after the update the OK button would not show up on the screen. I had to redownload the old firmware from the old Nav DVD (4.13), until I had burned the 2012 Nav DVD
