Nav Traffic Cuts Out
I have had the Nav Traffic function drop a few times (even within major cities). Either the "Traffic Bar" disappears on the map screen or when selecting "Traffic Issues" you get a message that says "no traffic information within 30 miles". Each time I call XM they send a re-fresh signal and this fixes for a few weeks.
Anyone else have this issue? I wondering if it is the factory OEM radio equipment failing?
I have had the radio freeze up a few times whereby none of the buttons / channel selectors work. After a few minutes all is well.
2006 RL. 130k miles.
Thanks!

Have not had radio lock up though
My car looses the XM signal every few months as well. Like no XM radio or traffic, so I always had to refresh it, but it would loose it again a few months later. It's been a couple of years, now, I just gave up on it, I can live w/o traffic and XM radio isn't that great either.
dec 23,no XM traffic..
i attempted to reactivate my Traffic only to be told my 2005 RL is a audio only radio!? i said to customer care no i just had it this year 2010 and last. after several calls and many email feedback. i called again today with NO XM traffic.. I give up! XM does not have there act together they will soon be out of business!!! so i will save my money.
Happens to me too
I've lost mine 2 days in a row now. It normally happens at least once every couple months (that I've noticed). Yesterday I wound up stuck in traffic because I didn't get a heads up.
Symptoms: Fine at car startup, and trafficnav works great. After some variable amount of time ALL traffic functions drop off. No road colors, not incidents, the traffic buttons are all grey. It doesn't come back for remainder of the trip.
Turn Car off/on, comes back.

VERY frustrating when you commute in a metro area!

This losing traffic is much different than the occassional random loss of traffic I have experienced in the past. The random loss was perhaps once/month and only lasted for 5 minutes or so and then came back on.
Now I see it every day and there seems to be a pattern to it. My commute is 45 minutes one way. I started to notice this week that the traffic seemed to go away at about the same spot in my commute. I was thinking perhaps it is location dependent, so I paid more attention to is the last 2 days. Now, I see that it goes out 30 minutes into my drive in both directions. Thus, not location dependent, but seems to be time dependent. Seems very odd, but it has happened every day now in both directions. Once it goes out 30 minutes into the drive, it does not return until I restart the car.

Mine would occasionally go out every few months and then come back ina day or so.
Over the past week I've noticed a pattern. Twenty minutes after the car is running (literally) the NavTraffic will go away. The traffic bar will disappear and when you go into the icons menu the traffic option is greyed out like you aren't subscribed to it. If you turn the car off and start it back up again the traffic bar is back, the icon option is available and the traffic flows are back, only to disappear again after twenty minutes.
It would be interesting to note if all of you are noticing it after 20 minutes. It has to be on continuously. I would turn the MID to show how long the car has been running and as soon as it hits 21/22 minutes, the traffic is gone.

I'm in the same boat
'09 RDX with 11K. I noticed this issue about a week ago. At the 20 min mark, all the traffic info is gone regardless of the location. Restart the car, everything is back.
Has anyone had luck getting XM to realize this is an issue and not just suggesting a reset?

I called XM and they were clueless.
As I said, it cut out again this morning before I called them. I'm dropping off my RL tonight to get the recall work done along with an oil change and tire rotation. I menioned to the SM the issue with the XM and that I could recreate it consistently. My ride to the dealer is over 30 minutes so it should reoccur if it's truly a problem with the receiver and not with XM.
Mine cut out again this morning on my way in to work (7:30am - 8:00 am ET). Now I did call XM after my previous post (10:10 am). I told them that I wasn't interested in having my receiver reset, I had been through that several times already. I simply said that I wanted to report the issue and also told them that I had read on the Acura forums that others experienced the same so it might be a problem on their end. They said they were excalating the issue to the technical support team (yeah right).

Cannot believe it is a receiver problem since we are all experiencing the same problem. Perhaps your call to XM did the trick
I had to tell the SM to not bother to look at it since it seems to be working now. Since I'm out of the factory warranty and into the extended warranty they charge a $100 diagnostic fee to look at the issue. If it turns out to be a legitimate issue they refund it. Since it was on for over 45 minutes on my way to the dealer I told them not to bother.
Well for the first time in a week the NavTraffic didn't shut off after 21 minutes. I'm beginning to wonder whether my call had anything to do with it.

I have yet to make my commute home, so I will let you know.
I'm willing to give your call the credit!
I have a brand new MDX for the day. Had my choice between a TSX, TL or the MDX. I decided to go withthe bigger vehicle in case I'm in it for a couple of days. She only has 7K miles on her.
look in the audio section for the 4G TLs - and you will see the same issue
my 09 TL no traffic / no weather - says inactive - xm support is worthless. you hold forever - only to get someone who cant help -- they put u on hold again and tranfer to someone else - who cant help either - long story/short - said would call me back
no call back yet and still down

Cool. Picking up my car tonight from an oil change and getting the recall work done. We'll see if I continue to see success.
I was skeptical that my call may have done anything, but it's too coincidental.
I suspect it was a system wide problem, but XM customer service is so incompetent that they could not recognize it at first. Your call may have been the one that finally got it escalated.
I agree. It seems as though the only solution they have is to send a reset signal to the receiver.
Well, thirty-five minute ride home and the NavTraffic didn't cut out.
I will say though that I really think the auto redirect function of the newer Navs. I was driving to the dealer in the new MDX loaner and I had the dealer set as the destination. It was snowing pretty hard and I thought it was cool when the Nav popped in and said it was looking for an alternate route due to congestion.

Mine cut out again tonight. I turned off the engine, then restarted, and the signal seems to be "active", but when I checked for incidents, it told me there were none in 30 miles... which is definitely not true.
Mine seems good now and seems GoHawks is also good. Keep us up to date on your status. I would get occassional dropped traffic in the past, but it would come back without restarting the car. This past week or so was consistently going out and staying out after 20 min, but seemed fixed after Monday.

Where are you located, Getakey? Maybe they're working on this region by region?
I'll keep an eye on it. As I have stated before, I don't get much commuting time during the weekdays, but I do let it idle for some time while warming up the car. Maybe I'll contact XM and have them send me a refresh signal.

So, I called XM today, just to find out that the rep with whom I signed up the subscription never added Nav Traffic to my account. I'll play with it for a few days and see if the traffic info stays connected.
Well I'm sure that'll explain your issue. My NavTraffic continues to work.

Tech support was very familiar with the problem.
