the navi disk has either a scratch in it or is dirty.

Another potential source of the problem....

I have also had a periodic rebooting of the nav system. In the past the problem has orginated from a spurious signal being sent from the satelite and had nothing to do with the disk in the trunk.

Let us know if cleaning the disk eliminates the problem for you.

If it is a satelite problem, others have probably experienced the same issue. Perhaps others will chime in and let us know.

Happened to me once a while back. Never again. Probably a ghost.

I have an 05 and I get the reboot ocasionally but it's not the unit. The dealer swapped the unit and hard drive and it did it on the way home from the dealer! It probably averages once a month.
BTW - when they swapped the hard drive, everything personized was lost - audio, phone book everything. It was a nuisance because it had no bearing on the problem.
I have found no logic as to when it happens so I'm willing to beleive that it could be from the satelite.

Happened to me the first time on a trip last week. I hit a bump and the Nav rebooted. I figured it just jarred the DVD player just wrong and caused a "skip".
