Nav not working

Have a 05 RL in which the driver side door handle sensor stopped working so now the nav system doesn't work (blank screen and the buttons do not respond) and also the door locks do not work and the fuel filler door button doesn't work. Has anyone has this happen to them and know what is the cause? Got a quote from the dealer to replace the door handle, but they cannot tell me if that will fix the nav not working issue as well? Any help or guidance would be appreciated!!

I know when I went to install my NavTool the GPS Unit 24pin harness had a bunch of wires where the jacket had broke (probably during the winter or from 7 years of use lol) leaving the copper part exposed, It was like 8 wires and them touching could have caused some problems. I wrapped it up with Wiretape the best I could.

Is the screen backlight on and can you still operate the Radio using the XM/CD and (1,2,3,4,5,6) buttons? If you can then something could be wrong with the wiring to the GPS unit.

Have you checked the battery? Might sound like a long-shot, but electronic gremlins (when there are several of them at one time) usually turn out to be the battery.

Do a search on the Navi. Lot's of threads about sending the unit back to Alpine for repair. Cost is about $400.

I know that when I had cut the accessory power to the navigation unit in the trunk (8 pin connector) the navigation unit would not operate (backlight on screen but that was it) no nav buttons, info, multi directional knob etc... but I could operate the radio using the CD..XM buttons. Don't think this is the issue but its worth checking out considering how easy it is to remove the panels in the trunk.

When my Navi went out I had the same issue. Screen backlit but no display. No other feathers/buttons worked except for the xm and radio memory buttons. Sounds like a job for Apline.

2005 Acura RL - Door lock/Fuel Lid Button & Nav

I have an Acura RL 2005 with the same problem as Raj18. My door lock and fuel filler buttons do not work and the NAV screen is dark.

Does anyone know how to fix?

Thanks,
harvey3121
