I just purchased v 4.70 from a guy on eBay.....but I can't get it to install. Has anyone else seen 4.70...? I can't seem to find anything about it on the web....they don't mention it on the Acura site or the Alpine site. Is this legit...? The DVD looks identical to the one I got with my '05 RL.

The highest version currently out for either Honda or Acura vehicles is 4.64 (Other than 6.62 for Civics), which is what is currently being distributed by Alpine. It may be that 4.70 is from 2009 models, but it is not officially available yet, so you may have been taken.

Interesting to hear that a version 4.7x may be out after all. The problem you are likely having is due to your car being a 2005. Your year's Nav cant be upgraded directly to a 4.6x or 4.7x disc, but rather you have to upgrade in two steps, first going to either 4.3x or 4.5x, and then as a second upgrade, you can go to 4.6x or higher.

So 4.62 then 4.63 then 4.64 and now 4.70! What the heck is going on??? Does anyone else see anything fishy here?

I don't understand what is going on at Alpine. Does anyone have any explanation to these version updates. The website certainly doesn't provide much information other than 4.56 to 4.64.

4.62 was the original Fall 2007 update. It had problems with updating earlier cars, notably those with 4.3x and earlier. It's sale was suspended pending a fix of the problems. People on the board said they did insufficient regression testing with all the various firmware versions installed in the 2005 and 2006 models.

4.63 was the dealer only version delivered in the 2009 TSX and probably other models, such as the 2009 MDX, RDX and RL, but I am not sure of anything except the TSX.

4.64 was just released on the Alpine store for general public sale as the bug fix for 4.62

It appears that 4.70 may be a new version that came out with the 2009 TL, but I don't really know. Your OP was the first I had heard of it.

I am going to try 4.63. I see Ebay has original discs and they are much cheaper than what Alpine wants.
