Can the Nav DVD from my 08 MDX be used in my 06 RL? Does the newer disk install anything or is it just a database? If try the newer DVD and it doesn't work , can I go back to the original?

Yes, the 2008 MDX uses the same white DVD disc as the RL and is currently on version 4.62, according to the Alpine web site.

Yes, the new disc will install upgraded software if you don't already have 4.62 or 4.63. The main differences other than updated maps are a) Mar-Nov DST time changeover choice and b) lack of male voice for feedback.

now has anyone successfully used a Mac to make a functional duplicate copy of a 2008 nav dvd... just in case something was to happen to the original

 

cool. i was able to use disk utility to dup 4.62, installed and used the instructions on Acurazine to clear the diagnostic screen. Everything seems to work correctly, all previous settings, PIN , etc were kept. Thanks
