The new Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack box set is now available. It is the complete movie soundtrack with one DVD disc containing the entire score and is mastered in DVD-A.

I heard Howard Shore on XM Cinemagic and he said the original soundtrack was recorded in or for DVD-A and that it sounded spectacular.

Just wondering if anyone has gotten this and what their impressions were. I will post mine when I received it.

I posted on this a few weeks ago. I just received the set and let me say that if you like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, this set is worth the price. It is a 3 CD set but the jem in the collection is that the entire soundtrack is loaded on a DVD and mixed to DVD-A. I can not get over how good it sounds on the RL sound system. It is one of the best DVD-A discs I have ever heard. This gets 10 stars out of 10 stars. I have not found it in the stores but Amazon has it for a fair price.

Anyway, thought I would post this in case anyone was interested (although, given the response to my first post, maybe not). Enjoyit if you get it.

 

I liked the movies but I don't recall the music. I imagine it has lots of strings and horns
