key

Have any of you noticed that after awhile, the paint peels off the buttons on the keyless remote? I can't see any of the pictures anymore - everything is all black. Well today I had to change the battery, and noticed that the buttons are really cheap little plastic discs that actually fall out if you take out the middle portion of the key and turn over the top piece. I then switched the buttons from my spare key, which I never use anyway. Does anyone know if replacements for the buttons only can be had? I know that I will need them again someday!

Same thing here! I always thought since I put the fob on my keychain, the buttons where rubbing on the keys (had no idea it was plastic and not metal). I highly doubt Acura would sell solo plastic pieces; that isn't their MO.

interesting, just took mine out my pocket to look at it
I never use the FOB buttons, but the circular ridge on the lock button is worn. Looks like this button sticks up the ost and the ridge wears. There is a slight portion of paint missing on the trunk release. Other than that can still see the symbols on each button and have been using since 2005.
why not repaint the buttons youself.

Well, I don't think paint would hold up. I use the FOB buttons all the time. I changed it out, using the second key. The top, bottom, and buttons could easily be packaged as a replacement because the only computer part that would have to be programmed comes out of that "clamshell" package, and just sits in there..

I tried taking mine apart to paint. Silver paint wears off. I swaped out the buttons from # 2 a year ago but they are now starting to chip as well.

I saw some on ebay a few months ago. The guy wanted $45.00!!!! For 3 buttons ! ! ! He must know somthing.

Maybe look for a broken FOB on ebay, but prol not an often sold item.

I was buying another set of workable fobs (1 and 2) on ebay anyway (my car only came with one) so I just pulled the buttons out of the extra sets #2 and put them in my original fob.

Maybe they can be clear coated or something?
