Interesting Hands free problem

I have a Palm Treo 650, and it works just fine with my 2005 RL Hands free. But here's my problem: To access my voicemail messages at the office, I have to dial an inside number, and when the recorded message picks up, I have to dial in (believe it or not) 8 additional numbers. Now, I've been able to program that into the speed dial of the Palm, but not the RL. If I put in the additional numbers in the RL, it dials them before the recording comes on...I need a few seconds delay before the 2nd set of numbers are inputted. Anyway to do this? Oh, and I have tried hitting the "pickup" button on the steering wheel, saying the numbers, but the lag time is too long, and I miss getting through. Thank you in advance, Carl

I have a similar situation, and this is how I handle it...

I add 2 entries into my HFL address book: "Office" & "Voicemail PIN".

<beep>
Call "Office"
As soon as I hear the recording kick in...
<beep>
Send "Voicemail PIN"
As soon as I see the PIN on the MID, press and hold the HFL button <beep>.

Then I hear the dialtones of the PIN being sent.

I do not wait for the HFL to readback "Voicmail PIN" as the recording on the office voicemail times out.

I found the response time from hitting the HFL button my my former TL faster than the response time on the RL. Hopefully the 09 RL will have the newer, faster HFL.

I just pick up my iphone and punch in the numbers for voicemails. The keypad on the phones still works when it's dialed out through HFL. At least in my experience, that's been easier.

Not all phones allow you to toggle between HFL and phone. Sometimes it is related to the Bluetooth stack and version used. Once HFL is engaged, it 'locks' the phone.

I also defeat s the purpose of HFL picking up the phone, or leaving the phonein a briefcase, etc.

You can program in a pause.

I have to entries.

"Voicemail"
"login voice mail"

So I'll say "Call voicemail"

When it picks up, I then say, "Send 'login voicemail"

The issue is that once our VM picks up it requires you to hit #, and then you hear the phone ring once (must be a transfer) and then it's picked up again.

So I just programed in a bunch of "pauses" to give sufficient time for the transfer to occur.

Something like this. "#<p><p><p><p>" followed by the extension and password.

<p> = in this example. If I remember correctly, i just said "pause" when entering digits. I had to play around with adding the right number to ensure I gave it enough time to transfer.

I suppose you can just create one entry (voicemail in my example) and add a whole bunch of pauses to give ample pick up time, but I chose to seperate the two.

I use the SEND DATA command with my Accord's HFL also and it works great.

Like the OP, when the voicemail greeting plays I have to initiate a string of entries to access my messages. *81 accesses the remote control routine, the I have to enter my mail boc #, and them my password with # after each entry.

I saved the string *81_ _123456#_ _ 12345# where _ is = say "pause" when storing it.

To use: "CALL WORK". As soon as the greeting starts "SEND WORK LOGIN". Like someone mentioned, don't wait for HFL to confirm. I immediately tap the TALK button and say SEND WORK LOGIN.

To access the various menu commands I say SEND 2*, etc... to save, delete, etc...

Tip: My original greeting was too short. Originally I just said "I'm not available, please leave a message." I changed it to something like "Thanks for calling. You've reached me at extension 1234. I'm not available. Please leave a name, blah blah blah." The longer message gives a few extra seconds for HFL to send the data.

And my boss said to me "Nice message. Very professional. The other's should do that, too. Ha!
