I-054: Grom Audio Aux input in 2006 RL working
Hi, I took the chance and ordered GROM-CLR-HON1 for around $50 plus shipping. I have a Zune (versus an IPOD) and the new Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 so all I needed was a headphone jack. No reason why it couldn't work with any other 3.5mm device. I debated doing it myself but decided to spend the $50 and had Best Buy do it for me. Works like a charm. I contemplated having them drill holes but in the end took their recommendation of feeding it into the glove box. The cable is long enough so I can put the phone wherever I want. As usual, charging for my phone is done through my 12V Samsung charger which I bought for $5.
The Nav Screen shows a big blue box that says extension while the top display bar displays CD-C. The switching is done through the CD button (mode on the steering wheel of course) and volume is controlled as usual (steering wheel or volume knob) or from the phone. Of course I can't switch tracks except from the phone, as expected.
My phone continues to work as expected with bluetooth hands free link and pauses audio when I receive a call. The audio in general is lower in intensity than bluetooth or my radio/cd so I do need to raise it to listen to music and then lower it by about 3-4 to keep it at the same level. So, luckily that variation isn't huge. The quality of audio is clear, no hiss and somewhere between FM and CD.
Hope this helps someone who is contemplating to put this in for as long as I did. Finally bit the bullet and I am happy.

out of 5.

If you are talking about install pics, I didn't install it so all I have in my glovebox is a 3.5 mm headphone cable. The pic for the unit is on the grom audio website.
The audio quality is going to be limited to what your phone can output, mine is decent but the bass is not as good as my Zune which sounds a lot thumpy and better (same song), like a CD.

Uh oh, on a long trip and I had to "reboot", ok restart my car because the GROM was acting up (barely audible at highest volume, both device and car). Now working again, not good, hoping it was a fluke.
