Hi,
i just bought 99 Acura RL with Nav. from Houston Tx. but the problem is that it wont accept the new city that i'm in. do i need to change the DVD or the old one will work ?
Plz tell me ASAP.

1st off, this is the 2nd gen RL forum so not many here may know the answer to your question.

That said, I do know a little about Acura's older gen Navs. Like the '99 TL, my guess is that that your '99 RL is a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) system as opposed to the DVD based systems introduced in '00.

Those HDD based systems could only be updated by the dealer. Your best bet is to give them a call. I know I read that they stopped providing updates for those older systems, but maybe there's a dealer out there that can give you an updated based on the last update.

Ok, but its not a dvd ,,. its like chip or smt. not a disc.

No it's not a DVD, but a sort of hard disk drive.

 

There was a guy on the TL forums who used to sell PCMCIA cards loaded with the Navi maps to replace the HDD in the old Acura Navi systems. It might be worth searching the 2nd gen TL forum to find that info.
