The last couple of days when the car recognizes my bluetooth enabled phone it automatically displays "in use" and refuses to cancel when I press the back button. That makes it impossible to make or receive calls or listen to the radio. The only way to canel it is to turn my phone off. Anybody have that problem and can share a remedy?

 

No idea what is going on, but try deleting the link, and entering in a new one.

It is possible something got corrupted on the HFL side. I suppose it is also possible your carrier pushed out some new update that might have screwed things up.

All my gremlins have been banished since I got my battery replaced. It was, for all intents and purposes, dead, as it didn't even register on the battery test!

 

Phone battery or car battery? I just got the car battery replaced and everything works much more smoothly, especially the steering wheel retraction and extension

 

There is a cascading effect on the RL systems as batter power approaches death.

A few months ago I drained my batter while using a 12V compressor to add tire pressure, whilst the stereo was playing and NAVI booted. However, in my genius, the engine was off and the ignition on ACC.

After about 15 minutes of compressor humming, my cell phone rang, and I answered with the HFL. I took the call, but ended it immediately. The phone was locked to HFL...but I did not take the hint. Back to tire # 4 as the Beatles LOVE album pumped from the stereo.

Tire 4 killed my compressor...so I thought. Then Lucy fell out of the Sky with Diamonds as the Stereo quit. Oh no...it hit me.

I reached in the car to see the LCD go blank. The stereo silent...then....*gasp* the NAVI screen flickers the Acura logo and went dark.

I opened the door..the LEDs were barely illuminated. I turned the ignition paddle to release a singular dreaded "CLICK".

All I could register was "It's DEAD, Jim..."

A call to Acura Roadside Assistance and within 20 minutes a vendor appeared and jumped my RL. I had the battery checked at my dealer the next day and it returned to full life...and again all systems operated without incident.

I guess, as battery power and life wanes, the RLs electrical systems surrender in a predetermined order, hopefully the ignition juice last preserved.

Lesson Learned.

Even though you had all those things running, 15 minutes does not seem like a lot of time. I've played much higher wattage stereo on ski boat (2 amps with large speakers on tower) for hours without fully draining a battery.

 

It was my second battery...which had been a warranty replacement about 6 months prior to the draining incident.

My tech tells me a 12V compressor running on ACC only is a 15-20 minute death sentence, let alone all other electrical systems.

To be fair, the car had been sitting for 4+ weeks while I was touring Northern Europe, Russia, Scandinavia and the UK last summer. Hence I needed to add tire pressure.

 

wow - did not realize compressor was that big of consumer. That's something to keep in mind.

sure enough, found this in a quick google search:
If a car battery is used, be sure the vehicle is running as the compressor will drain the battery quickly. If a stand alone battery is used, the battery will drain in approximately 20 minutes.

 

I am planning to be in Iceland, Greenland, North Cape and Spitzburgen in July and August. I fly into London and home from Amsterdam.....

Needless to say I am considering alternatives!

Plan A: Fly into London. *Iceland / Greenland / Spitzburgen* Fly home from Amsterdam.

Plan B: QM2 New York to Southampton. *Iceland / Greenland / Spitzburgen* Amsterdam to Dover by Ferry. QM2 Southampton to New York.

Plan C: Tahiti & Fiji

 

My vote: Plan C!, although QM2 would be fun - but you would be wanting to pilot it.

I'm going to fill my boat with diesel this weekend. I worked it pretty low last summer, so Not looking forward to that transaction. Have a 240 mile round trip planned for May.

 

Car battery.

 

I am floored that Acura will replace the battery up to 48 months, no pro-rating. When I read the warranty upon buying the car, I was wondering if they really meant that, or if it was a typo. After reading others' experiences here on AZ, and then getting a new battery after 40 months, I know it was not a typo.
