i just brought one jl w7 from a friend and was wondering what kind of amp should i buy and what kind of power should i'll be pushing. this is my first system that im putting so i really dont know anything about subwoofers and amplifier . thaks

 

don't know the answer to your question, but I do know messing with the subwoofer will affect the performance of the ANC which depends on the Bose subwoofer to do it's work. You will most likely have to defeat the ANC by disconnecting one of the ANC microphones.

I'm in the process of adding a sub to my '08. The JL W7's are great subs - feed them plenty of power and you'll be rewarded.

You didn't say what size sub, what style box, etc. So I'll leave it with this . . . Get a high quality amp which can provide RMS power numbers at, or near the manufacturer's rated power handling for the sub. I'd go MTX Thunder Elite, JL Audio HD or Slash, or Rockford Fosgate Power or Punch series.
