Help! Radio or Navi Codes!!!

Took me 3yrs but I finally left my 05 on over the weekend. Was able to boost the battery, but now it is asking for a Code on the Nav screen. I have the card that came with the car which has both a 4-digit and 5-digit code, but none seem to work. Any ideas?

Thx

From 06 Manual

If your vehicle’s battery is disconnected
or goes dead, or the radio
fuse is removed, the audio system
will disable itself. If this happens,
you will see ‘‘Enter Code ’’ in the upper
display the next time you turn on the
system. Use the preset buttons to
enter the five-digit code. The code is
located on the radio code card
included in your owner’s manual kit.
When it is entered correctly, the
radio will start playing.

If you make a mistake entering the
code, do not start over; complete the
five-digit sequence, then enter the
correct code. You have 10 tries to
enter the correct code. If you are
unsuccessful in 10 attempts, you
must then leave the system on for 1
hour before trying again.

If the code card is lost, your dealer
can access your code with your
radio’s serial number. To access the
serial number, turn the radio on. It
must display ‘‘Enter Code ’’, then turn
the radio off. Push and hold the
preset 1 and preset 6 buttons, then
push the power/volume knob. The
serial number will appear in two sets
of four digits.

The system will retain your AM and
FM presets even if power is
disconnected

I had something similar happen to me a week ago when my battery died. I believe it is asking you for a PIN number with a rotary looking selector?

It is not your NAVI code or Radio code. It is a PIN #.

You may have set a personal PIN for the NAVI. If not, it is asking you for the factory set PIN. I found mine in my owner's manual leather case. It was on a paper tag with a barcode and a 4 digit #. That is the factory PIN it is seeking.

Once I entered that PIN, my NAVI returned to normal without loosing any of my settings or address book. *phew*

Yes! It is a rotary dial. And I do have a barcoded slip with the original dealer keytag. I will try this today when I get home.

I did call the selling dealer. They did not have the Nav code (that's what I thought it needed) and had to go to the archives to look for it! Still waiting to hear back.

Thx.

'fraid not.

Having fun with the dealer! They suggested I try disconnecting the battery, which I'm not too keen to do onmy own.

I did call the Acura RL Customer Care number (do they have this in the US too?). Was impressed at the attention by the CS Rep. She called the Service Manager at the selling dealer and got back to me. I'm taking the car in (to the selling dealer) tomorrow morning. Will see what happens.

Rgds.

Sorry to hear. What a pain!

There must a a manufacturer default # the dealer uses. Let us know how it turns out.

An yes, we have Acura Customer Care. I have also had very good experiences from them.

All in good order again.

Turns out that the Nav code on the card I was provided with the car on purchase is wrong - but the Radio code is correct, go figure!

Service Manager took care of everything - no charge.

My wife managed to kill the battery on my RL while i was in Germany last week and I'm getting the code screen. No problem I thought after finding this thread - but according to that manual excerpt up there it wants a 5 digit code - when i enter the 5 digit code it stops me at 4 and says incorrect code. If i enter the 4 digit code on my card, it still says incorrect. Anyone seen this? My closest Acura dealer is an hour away so i'd like to get this taken care of in my driveway!

i took the car to my local Honda dealer and they hooked me up. I had two problems.
1. I was using the rotary dial at first to enter the code. I should have been using the preset buttons to enter the 5 digit radio code. Guess i wasn't reading the above directions carefully enough!
2. The navigation code on my card was wrong - I guess my unit was replaced at some point. Inside my glovebox was a sticker with the new code.

The girl at the honda dealer was very helpful and got me sorted out in about 15 minutes, no charge.
