Heavy vs The Glove Box Light
Heavy vs The Glove Box Light
After reading posts about how intimidating it can be to replace the light in glove box, I decided to start reading and tackle replacing that light.
Now to start, this is hands down the best link to show you how to remove the glove box:

And this is the bulb you need to buy BEFORE you pull your glove box apart. Unless you want to do this twice or drive around with no glove box.

Here is the glove box light: (the white disc on the right)

Now remove all the screws across the top at the wood trim.

There is one hidden in the corner, this is the only panel you have to "pop" off for those of you that are nervous about breaking things

Now that all the screws are loose open the secret paper compartment and get the bolt in the back (refer to the pdf)
Then close the glove box and move on to the bottom bolts (note these are also the culprit of the rattles we hear)

With all over the screws out, you have to give the glove box a tug to pop it out. Now there are "clips" in the back but it doesnt take much force.
Make sure you are pulling on the glove box and not the trim around it.

Once it pops down you will see the back side of the light

Twist it and remove the socket from the housing

Here is the little culprit

Now this is where my instructions will be different, because I REFUSE to put that stock bulb back in so.....

It has to go. If you want to replace your bulb and put it back together, please do so.
I decided to go back with an LED board...

will it be to bright? probably, but I will never hear the ladies bitch cause they cant see.
For those interested, I cut the plug and soldered on the ends for the LED board.

I then dropped them through the stock hole

Then stuck the pad to the flat spot.

Now that is some light.

You can hardly notice its there
Hope this helps you guys and girls out.
