Heated seat problem

I have an 05 RL, recently my heated seats stopped working. Fuse #6 (heated seat fuse) keeps blowing and I don't understand why. I did notice that the driver side switch seems to be popped up a little or almost loose. Everything else is working fine. Has anyone had this problem? Is it worth Replacing the switch first? I'm not sure where to start

Use a meter to see if the circuit is shorted

take the switch apart, its probably a loose contact.

The switch is binary: if it's shorted then the seat heater will be on, if it's not shorted then the seat heater will be off. If the switch wires are exposed and making contact to something in the surrounding area then it could short and therefore put more current than the fuse is rated to sustain. Check the mounting of the switch and its surrounding connectors to see if some insulation has been worn through.

You did not state which seat heater works or does not work. Or, does the fuse blow as soon as you turn on the ignition?

While true, that's not the complete circuit. Each terminal (hi and low) have the bulb connected connected in parallel to the heater element. If the bulb has the short, that will blow the fuse.

OP, what do you mean, "the switch is causing a short"? It is a three terminal switch. In the off position, there should be zero current. In either the high or low position, both the light and heating element are connected to fuse #6 in the passenger fuse box.

If the circuit is drawing current in the off position, the switch is most likely stuck hi or low.

Check out pg 2 in the attachment for the diagram.
