Has anyone had backup camera activation issues?

I may have spoke too soon in my praise of the backup camera in the other thread. It worked normally for almost 2 weeks since I had it installed but I've had some issues the past 3 days, namely the camera not activating when the car is put in reverse. The screen turns black and the camera doesn't engage - it happens about 2/3 of the time. The other 1/3 it turns on normally. Once, I was able to shut the car off and the camera then came on after restarting. Has anyone had something similar happen? It seems like a loose connection or faulty harness to me. I think the camera itself is fine since when it does engage it works as it's supposed to.

I already have an appointment with the dealer but they couldn't get me a loaner until the 21st so I have to wait until then.

haven't had any trouble with mine turning on when backing up: installed by dealer when I bought my 2006 rl with cmbs/pax. only minor glitch: occasionally the car willl go forward several hundred feet before backup camera turns off.

Camera activation issue was fixed by the dealer. They told me that the pins in the connector in the trunk were not making consistent contact so the pins were replaced. The camera fires right up now as soon as the car goes into reverse - no lag, no black screen. It worked fine for the first 2 weeks then started working intermittently if at all. When I thought back on it, the issue started after the first time I opened and closed the trunk after having it installed. Hopefully it stays fixed.

I have this problem as well and will have the dealer look in on it. While on the subject of the lagging performance of electronics, I've also been having some problems with my navigation being very slow to initialize, sometimes up to a couple of minutes. When I first start the car, it's very hard to get anything done between the camera being slow to turn on and system being slow to boot up. Any thoughts?

I had that issue as well. They replaced the cable with PIN connector and has been fine since. Interestingly it happed 2 weeks after I bought my RL (and dealer installed camera for delivery). It has been fine since...nearly 4 years now.
