Has anyone gotten the Acura data link to work?

It seems (and is confirmed) that pretty much every Bluetooth phone I own/use (including a Blackberry 8700c, Treo 650, SonyEricsson T610 and Motorola V3m) all cannot use the data portion of HandsFreeLink.

So I'm wondering - has anyone really gotten this thing working?

I don't think I get the real benefit of it working. I can't get my Cingular 8125 to work, but don't really care. What's the real value you get from it?

It's touted as a diagnostic tool when something major causes, say for instance, the check engine light to come on. The car will use the phone's data service to connect to an Acura server which in turn will email the car with suggested courses of action.

OT. but on the subject of emails, I think Acura is missing out on a feature of the car by not utilizing the email function regularly to it's customer base. After my initial messages stopped, I've gotten one that I remember...informing me of NavTraffic glitches...said glitches were known about on this board several weeks in advance of that email, and as I recall, the issue was resolved by the time I got that email.

Anyone else getting regular emails from Acura?

I only got one email from them saying that I'd get more over the next several days. That was more than a week ago and I haven't gotten any further emails.

I'm not sure that one needs a bluetooth connection for this to work.
I created a reminded for a service appointment on the Owner Link website, and sure enough, I was reminded by a message sent to the RL's navigation interface.

You do need a BT connection for the two-way stuff to work. If you put a service appointment in on line, the system gets a message through XM radio. But if you want the CAR to be able to send messages to Acura through the diagnostic system, you need a phone with a bluetooth data link.

However, I've never been able to get it to work on any phone I've tried.

So after ~2 weeks the only thing I can gather is that it's a completely useless "feature."

Acura should study how BMW is (successfully) using this functionality in its automobiles...

I had a V600 with AT&T that I was able to get the link to work with. I have since switched to the Cingular 8125 and have not had any luck.

Not sure that I actually miss the link, don't know that I ever used it when I had it.

I recently got a Nokia 6103 (on t-mobile) and lo and behold -- the data link works! First time in three phones....

Granted, it's of limited usefuleness, but hey, at least it works.
