first service & XM delay
first service & XM delay
Just had my first service performed today (A1). All personnel were friendly and helpful. I also asked them to look into the XM refresh delay.
They looked over the system and acknowledged the delay. They said they tried a couple adjustments (didn't go beyond that explanation) to no avail. Service manager stated that he called Acura and is waiting for a response. He said he would call me when they got back to him. I will let you know what he says.
A couple questions for the forum.....
- Did you get the first service free? They charged me...when I asked, the girl at the register told me 'no, they don't do that'. My 05 Dodge Dakota I purchased has 2 free oil changes! Geez.
- The price of the A1 service was $93.56 for an oil change and tire rotation!! This is high compared to the service I paid on my Lexus GX. I used to have this service done for about $60.
This is my first Acura...I guess I am just a little surprised.

I had my first service (A1) about two weeks ago. $53.13 for an oil change and tire rotationon the 'ol RL. Which still seemed pricey to me considering I got my first 2 services free with my Lexus. $93.56 seems like price gouging to me.
I'm feeling really lucky here. Had my RL in for its first A1 service about two weeks ago. The did the oil change, tire rotation, computer update, and installed the cargo net. The cargo net takes .5 hours of time to install since you have to tear apart the trunk.
They threw in the oil change for free (normal for cars purchased through them, though mine was a "re-buy" through a broker from them), charged for the tire rotation and the net install. I think the entire total was under $60.
It took about 3 hours total and I worked in the lounge taking advantage of a desk and wireless-g internet connection. (I live about an hour from the dealer).
The really good news is no XM delay!

Let us know what you hear regarding the delay. An Acura regional manager told me the delay is normal because of the NavTraffic hardware. I said BS. He said that's the Acura position on the matter.
