Favorite VR Commands

I hardly ever use the VR but it sounds like a lot of people do. I browsed through the book but there are so many commands that it's a little overwhelming. The recent post by "gdevine" saying that "temperature max cold" was his favorite command gave me the idea that we could come-up with a list of the most-used commands and draw from each other. I'd really like to use it more.....

The only command I use is "CD play track 28".

So, to start the list, so far we have:

1. "temerature max cold"
2. "CD play track 28"

Keep 'em coming......

I don't have favorites. I do practically everything by Voice now. Change temps, change radio stations, set destinations, you name it.

By the way, did anyone realize the system is smart enough to know the difference between an AM and FM station. As a result, you don't need to specify that. Just say "Radio 106.7" and it will know that's FM. Say "Radio 580" and it will know that's AM. Tip of the day

My favorites (most used) are -

Temperature max cold/temperature xx degrees
BT commands (call home, dial, etc.)
Find nearest (fill in the blank)
Display traffic incidents

My favorite reply from the system -

"Pardon?"

I really don't have a list of favorites. I tend to use them all. It's really not hard to remember them once you get the hierarchy set in your head. I rarely use the buttons and dials anymore. If I use the Voice commands a lot, I have less trouble remembering them AND it's safer because I don't remove my attention from driving.

I use the phone commands every single day. I'm afraid that the phone buttons are going to wear out with my daily use!

Even better, they are almost 100% accurate, unlike in my 3GTL, which apparently had an early version of Acura's tech as it was accurate only about 75-80% of the time, and couldn't handle "8" very well.

By the way....repost.

Climate Control Full Automatic is my most used command but I tend not to use voice because it is so much faster to use the knob. Do most people have "voice feedback on"? I do and it's to let you know that the bitch (that's what I call the female voice) is about to do something that will require your attention for the next 5 minutes to correct!

Don't know. I have an '06. Does it not work for those who have '05s?

I find it hard to believe this ONE command was not available in the 05's especially since theirs a button on the dashboard for it.

Be sure you're saying "Display Audio Screen". Unlike "Display Menu", "Display Info", etc., this button requires you to say the word "screen" as well. There must have been some other words that sound like Audio which required them to add the extra word to the command

If the stereo is off, "Display Audio Screen" will turn the audio on.

LOL, I agree. Thats usually what I do. However, that's besides the point. The command should work, I would think.

I tried in my 05- does not work. Wonder if it would be available on the updated Nav disk.

I'm surprised. Did the 05 have the Voice Command Help on the Info Screen? If so, I'd be really curious if it lists the command there. If not, maybe there was some other variant of this phrase for the 05's. Check it out and let us know. It's becoming a mystery I'd like to see solved

I checked the voice command help and it is not there. It must be one of those improvements they tempt you with to upgrade your nav disc or car.

OK then, I agree. It really was not a valid command in 05.

Maybe it was more of an oversight then an intentional omision. The button is right within arms reach so hardly worth upgrading for that alone.

Come to think of it though, I don't remember seeing the command in my help menu. Can anyone with an '06+ confirm this? I'm actually out of town and can't check for myself.

I use the phone commands every day; i.e.:

Call Home
Call 555-1234
Dial <my wife's> cell phone
Redial
Call <my name's> cell phone- to retrieve voicemails

I really don't use the audio or navigation voice commands much. I think it's awesome that the RL navigation system can be used "on the fly". Typing in some letters and numbers is not something I consider much of a distraction- I do it only a couple times a week; if that.

Red face

I love "call voicemail". My associate is amazed and dazed that the RL get's right into VM without entering passcodes (as if calling form a phone other than your own cell). Little does he know it is my own cell phone is calling, the RL is just an extension of it via Bluetooth.

Then stepping through the menus, blows him away. "You have 12 new messages. To listen, press 2" 'Send 2'.......

I read that soon we can call our email and VR will 'read' email text to us. That would be sweet. It would not be too different than Acuralink sending messages to the car an reading them to us.

By the time I get home from the office, I usually have my voice mail caught up, CNN reviewed on XM, and occaisionally dinner delivered just as I arrive. The car is so comfortable, traffic warfare has lessened its impact on me. By the time I get home, it is time to relax (eat & drink). I think some days I look back at the RL in the garage and say 'thanks'. :

I feel like I am living in a RL commercial. If they ever thought to make one.

Sometimes I can't send the number fast enough because of a delay in HFL. Have you had that problem?
