DVD Video Upgrade chip
DVD Video Upgrade chip
I hear a rumor that an update or chip for the RL DVD audio is available to allow watching of DVD Video's. Before anybody flips- I don't want to enable the feature to watch DVD's from the front screen (Although I would be able to after I find the chip). Instead I just want to add a video headrest to enable movie entertainment for my daughter who sits behind me.
Has anybody heard about this upgrade? I found an article on the web where a BC resident who did this upgrade ran over a young person and is being charged with intentional manslaughter as his excuse for not paying attention to the road was because he was too busy watching a movie while driving.
Has anyone else heard of this upgrade/hack? Does anyone know where it can be found?

I'd like to have this ability basically only for the coolness factor rather actual function.
I wonder if there are any people who are able to watch dvds in their car slap in pornos and hump away on their partners at the time...that is pretty pathetic but I can see people doing it.

There are no known upgrade chips for the car. There is, however, a device which you can addon to allow you to watch movies. You cannot use the navi dvd drive for this though. The point of this device (and there are several) is to allow you to use your front screen to show video. www.avelectronic.com is the one I had bought and used in my TSX. It is plug and play, plug it into the navi dvd drive, and plug the navi dvd drive into the avelectronic unit. Then ground the black wire and run the other wire to the fusebox. You then could put inputs into the avelectronic - e.g. a dvd player you could mount anywhere in your trunk, playstation, xbox, rear view camera, etc.
Check the 3rd Generation TL forums for more information. What they use over there would be very similar to what we would use for the RL.
