Driver 1/Driver 2 key fob settings won't work

Couple weeks ago, I purchased a pre-owned 05 RL from private seller, not dealer. Came with 2 key fobs, one imprinted with Driver 1 on the back, the other with Driver 2.

Driver 2 key fob works fine with "Welcome Driver 2" coming up and I'm able to select and store XM stations, seat position, nav screen color, etc. with no problems.

But when I get into car using Driver 1 key fob, the "Welcome Driver 1" does not appear, just "Welcome" as if key fob's been de-activated. I checked manual and it said to clear settings, just hit lock and unlock buttons on remote at same time, wait for single flash. I did that. Then to set it with your selections, do that again and wait for two flashes. Did that too. But still it does not recognize or identify Driver 1 with Driver 1 key fob. Just says "Welcome." And when I go to make adjustments to things like which doors it opens when unlocking, etc., it says something like no driver recognized. And I made sure Driver 2 key fob was no where close.

Any suggestions? I'm afraid since I didn't buy from local dealer, they may not be too eager to walk me through this kind of stuff.

Thanks!

The dealership will be happy to help you. This is Acura, not Volkswagen

My local Acura dealership has been absolutely fantastic to deal with since I bought my '05 RL at CarMax nearly a year ago.

(disclosure -- I've owned Volkswagens since 1998. My wife's car is a 2007 VW GTI.)

After you hit the lock/unlock for the car to recognize driver 1, get out of the car, lock it with remote and unlock the car again with remote. Get in and turn the ignition switch, it should say "Welcome Driver 1". After that, start by setting the seat into memory before setting the other items in the MID. Unless you enter a locked car with remote, the car does not know the driver has switched from 1 to 2 or vice versa.

It is more likely that the Driver 1 remote has not been linked, see this thread...
