Center channel speaker...

When should sound be coming from the center channel speaker? I think mine is dead. I removed it today and I am going to test it using my speaker system in my house. I have turned on center point and listened using a CD and I get nothing. I also set the center channel as loud as it goes.

With centerpoint on, it should be working. It's probably dead....

I checked it using my home theater setup and I get nothing. It is dead. I found a used one on Ebay. I will probably go that route.

Is it common for the center channel to die? The rest of the speakers are working well.

So the center speaker only works with center point turned on which means it only works with cds?

No, it works for every audio mode. If you look under the audio settings in other modes, you'll find a center setting. I tested this on my car, the dash speaker works with xm, aux and fm. Hope that helps!

I know about the center speaker setting. That is what got me wondering if mine was blown because I couldn't here it even when set to the loudest position. I wasn't sure if it only worked with center point turned on which I believe only works with cds.

I am now even more curious to hear the system once I get the speaker replaced.

I bought one on Ebay out of an 08 Rl for $20 including shipping. It would have cost over $60 for a new one. Hopefully it works. I can't wait to hear the system with all speakers working. I know it isn't the best factory system ever made but I think it sounds very good, especially with cds.

For a speaker on a "premium" vehicle, even 60$ for an oem part seems cheap. 20$ is almost a steal!

I received the used speaker yesterday. I tested it before I installed it and it was working. I then installed it and it is working. I listened to XM and a few CDs on my drive to work and is working properly. I didn't notice a big difference with it working but it does seem to blend the sound better. I don't like the effect centerpoint does to music. I've tried it with everything from Tool to Bob Dylan to Billy Joel. I prefer the way it sounds with centerpoint off. With it on it sounds too "processed" and unnatural.

Anyway, my center channel was dead and now it is working. Thanks for the help!
