Bluetooth Broken
My bluetooth stopped working in my 05 RL. Took it to the dealer and they say the module is out and will cost $1,300 plus labor for new module. Is it the HFL module I need to buy? Saw one for $150 on e-bay. Where is it located on vehicle?

I do not see a part number, just called Bluetooth Control Module.

I purchased a Bluetooth Control Unit on e bay. Now, does anyone know how to install??? I saw that the unit is located up in the sunroof control area in a TL. Is it in the same area for the RL? Is it as simple as locate, remove, plug in and it works?

Burning Brakes
From the pix in the manual, it does, but it's not very detailed. Probably plug and play. I'd take out the glove box (never did it in my RL bit it's easy in my MDX...need to remove it to change the cabin filter) and see what's behind. I'd bet it's pretty straightforward.
OK...found the instructions...
1. Remove glove box
Looks pretty easy. If I can get my scanner working, I'll post the pages.

cwharper, what was the symptom of the Bluetooth failure? (or did it just die all together). I think mine is going out. It was working fine, but now when I make a call, right when it starts dialing it beeps like it disconnects, but its really dialing in the background. Strange.

OMG! It worked. Couldn't have done it without the directions you sent. This saved me at least $1,300. The plastic box that holds the bluetooth board broke when I took it out at both mounting bolts, very cheap. So, I just velcro it back in.

It went nuts on me one time by going back in forth erratically from being connected to my phone and not being connected in the middle of a call. I was on my cell when I got in the car and it was trying to connect to the phone. After that it was just dead. Hit the button and nothing happened.

Unplug Bluetooth/MF module
Just wanted to drop a quick note of thanks for the instructions. My 2008 RL was having battery drain issues and the hands free / bluetooth stopped working. I used the info provided and unplugged the hands free module. I plugged it back in hoping it would work, but it did not, so I unplugged to save the battery.
For clarity, I only unplugged the module, so I only had to remove the lower hush panel and right foot panel. I used a flat screwdriver to depress the harness pin and removed. Piece of cake and no need to remove glove box etc.
