Best place to install FM Modulator? Headunit removal DIY?

Just got around to installing a DVD player + screen in the headrest for my daughter but need to figure out the best way to get the sound into the cabin aside from the built in speaker on the LCD.

Found a bunch of FM Modulators that would work, but unsure of the best location to access the antenna.

Anyone know where the antenna on the rear of the car is located? OR, has anyone removed the headunit? Any DIY's out there?

Thanks!

When I tried to have a sirius star base installed the installer told me that when he opened up the dash that the antenna leed on the RL was unlike any he had seen & was inconpatable with the wired FM modulater. I ended up getting the DICW Ipod adptor & using the aux in on it to run my sirius. 1 week until the grateful dead channel starts

I've had the whole dash apart and the audio unit out. The antenna lead is a proprietary connector that will not match up to an FM modulator. I have an '07, and the radio unit has line inputs available through the ipod 7 pin connector.

if you have an 05 and 06 RL, I would go with an DICE unit or USA SPEC unit, it adds IPOD capabilities (bonus when selling) (dice has text, but loose XM) and has AUX input too. I have one in my TL with the DVD/Carputer system and it works flawlessly.

nope, it should be plug and play, if you want text(NO XM), unplug the XM cable from radio and put in DICE, if you want no text or USA SPEC (XM STAYS), a Y cable is supplied and it plugs into radio, XM plugs into XM Y harness and DICE into the other end. It's all plug and play, getting power form the radio as well. I would PM unclad4 in the audio section of acurazine to ask him more about the dice unit.

It plugs into the back of the radio. I have mine in the mode where you control the IPOD directly from the IPOD & Have a starbase running through the aux in.
