BAD BAD Day, Speaker Issues

2007 RL

SO.... where do we start, Yesterday in the snow over here in New England, I went through a HUGE pothole, and busted a tire...FANTASTIC... Out in the snow, freezing, put on the spare...

Drove to the tire place, had 2 new tires put on... FANTASTIC...

Then, I start noticing that I have no sound in the car..
EVERYTHING works, NAVI, Radio, Bluetooth, but Absolutely NO SOUND....

I searched the forums, and tried everything mentioned... I checked the 30amp on the passenger side kick well, check the radio fuse, pulled radio fuse, reset radio, went into radio daigs ( 1 6 and power) says amp OK

Went into the trunk, trying to find the amp, not sure where it is LOL, I saw something near the fuel pump access door, not sure what it was, made sure all wires were tight....

so, HELP ME lol

Could the bump from the pothole have knocked something loose, it was the front right tire.... and WHERE is the amp? Is it just a coincidence this happened at the same time as the bump??

What you found isn't the amp. The amp is on the opposite side of the trunk (passenger side).

When I first purchased my car, the guy who had it before me fried the radio by leaving the aftermarket amp remote wire bare in the trunk which shorted out the stock headunit. Acura had to fix it somehow. However, if I go over a large enough bump like the one you've described the radio will go out. I have to smack the side of the radio to get it to come on again. Thankfully 2+ years later I've had no issues.

You may have a similar issue, maybe the bump caused the probelm with the headunit or the amp, or it could all be coincidence.

well, my first thought is to make sure you have a signal into the amp.

if not you have an output issue at the radio.

so, it was a loose connection that either put the system in fault or that "fell" back in place.

So here is an update.... It was on one day, off the next day, etc...
I pulled the rug in the trunk, and noticed that water is coming in right ABOVE the amp, starting to actually cause it to discolor..... SO their is my issue, now I need to know where that water may be coming from?

any ideas??

Its actually coming in from the seam in the metal right ABOVE the amp in the pic that was posted above.....

Looks like it is coming in where the trunk support hole is... going to put down some liquid rubber and reseal it...
