ANC Active Noise Cancellation Issues

I've been noticing that at times my ANC seems to be putting out the noise that it's supposed to cancel? Mostly noticed it in the low end (car in idle), when I block the speaker I get two loud vibration sounds.

I'm guessing this will be a warranty fix?

This noise happens all the time or only when you cover up the mic in the headliner?
If it only happens when you cover the mic this is normal. Mine does it. Ive read posts on this forum from others that have noticed the same. If it happens all the time and you have not installed an after market sub or anything then yes take it in.

It happens maybe 15% of the time I turn on my car? It's like a phase shifted ANC. Most of the time it's fine and usually when cruising it's okay, I only notice the crap sound at low rpms.

I shall take the car in, but I hope the problem happens when I turn it on for them.

I'll second that. Covering the mic with your finger will *cause* it to make noise. That's normal.

+1. Covering either ANC mic with your finger will cause you to hear the low rumbling noise.

I hear buzzing and huming without blocking it though, it's just louder when it's covered for a second.

At first I thought it was a blown speaker...

Just unplug the rear mic to shut it off.

How do you do that? Does that mic just pop out of the headliner? I'd hate to get it popped out and not be able to get it back in if that's not the way to do it.

I unplugged my rear mic.

You have to remove the dome light in the rear. Use a pen light and look for a plastic wire connection in the headliner. My connector was green. It has a tab you have to either lift up or push down to seperate. (can't remember)

not to thread jack but my boy has a 06 rl and he installed 2 12'' kicker L7's in there but now it makes that humming noise out of the sub that he installed. I believe its the noise cancellation device and wanted to know if theres anyway you can disable it.

That was exactly the issue I ran into. The fix was to unplug the rear mic.

To be clear though I am running stock head unit and speakers. Used a line converter to tap into the factory sub and ran that to an aftermarket amp that is connected to one 12inch sub.

I had my friend install my amp and subwoofers and I would get this random bass with no music playing and I was stressing so much thinking my friend installed this incorrectly but I unplugged the rear anc mic and it seems to have done the job does everyone who installs a sub using a loc get this annoying bass feedback and do you really need to unplug rear mic and will my blootooth still work?

Yes, it happens to anyone who taps into the subwoofer signal. It would have been much easier to unplug the ANC unit at the amp while your friend was back there, but unplugging the mic works too. Some people have had to unplug both front and back.

The Bluetooth mic is separate, so it should still work.

I just unplugged the rear mic and so far it hasn't done that annoying thump with no music playing it was driving me crazy I thought he installed it incorrectly I was pissed wich is not good for me being as sick as I am. Also would just unplugging just the rear do it or do I need to unplug the front anc mic too? If so how the hell do you do it I couldn't figure out how to remove that pannel with some lights and garage door opener! Any tips?

If you are not hearing the hum, then there is no need to do anything more. To remove the map light assembly, you have to pop off the map light bulb covers. Next to the bulbs are two screws. One those are removed, you can pull the assembly down.

Again, don't bother with the front mic or the ANC module (question from another thread) if you don't hear the hum.

I recently got a 2016 RDX AWD Advance, and noticed the sound system was lacking in bass. I followed the steps in the following thread to disable the ANC, and it definitely made an improvement:

ELS system and ANC do not work properly together in this car

However, whenever the car is turned off and then on again, the setting resets and ANC gets re-enabled.

Anyone know how to disable this permanently, without having to mess with the mic or the module itself? Thanks.

You have to mess with the mic or module. I recommend the module.

I just installed a sub back in it after repairing the amp and I hear the humming noise does that mean the sub is out of phase?

is ANC only through the sub or speakers also?

It means you need to turn off or unplug the ANC.

You can't fix it properly with an aftermarket sub. You have to choose between the two, and honestly, ANC in cars is largely a marketing gimmick.

My bad. When you said "installed sub" I naturally took it as an aftermarket one. Honestly, you are delving into territory I'm not sure anyone here has done. Maybe they have and you will get lucky. Maybe they have, but rarely ever log in. I can't say I ever noticed it was disabled, so that may be your path of least resistance. Good luck!

I reversed sub polarity and it fixed it.
It was out of phase when you hear the noise louder thst means the sub is adding to the engine noise
Now its nice and quiet.
