Does anyone know if an aftermarket single or double din dash kit is available for my 2005 RL?

Wow, I would think after all the mods required it would cost as much as a new (or used) head unit. Everything is so integrated on this car. Fortunately, I see no need to change much, it sounds so awesome. I'm just afraid it will break, but we can ship it out to Alpine for repair, right? Much cheaper than the dealer. The electronics are all Alpine, right? Except for Bose speakers and amps.

 

yeah the head unit can be serviced, and you can upgrade the speakers if needed.

Nothing is really cheap in comparison to a single din upgrade.

 

What speakers can be upgraded and where can I get then?

 

You can replace any speaker. I had trouble finding out their size before. Don't think I ever did find out.

The issue we have, supposedly at least, is that the RL speakers are two ohm. I don't think anyone has ever confirmed it, but quite a few people think that. I think if you replaced all speakers, you would be fine.

i was all excited when i saw the title and then when i started reading . it would be nice if someone made an aftermarket dash kit with all the controls. I want a touchscreen!!!! and pandora preinstalled on a double din

 

 

I know the system is nice in the RL but it is somewhat outdated in my opinion. I don't see why some one just can't install a radio in the pocket under the main radio and have it go thru an aux module, unless there isn't enough depth.

 

2014 RLX is waiting at your local dealer.
