Acura RL 2006 Boot Screen

Hi all, I have had a 2006 Acura RL for about 9 months now and have been lurking for the past 6. This is my first post.

Is there any way to disable the boot screen? I ask because It's blazing hot where I'm from, and the first thing I try to do when I get in the car is crank up the AC to get the hot air out. Yes, it doesn't take too long to get to the "OK" prompt and switch to climate controls, but 10 seconds seems like an eternity when it's 100 degress OUTSIDE of the car.

Any suggestions?

To be frank, don't be a pussy. 100 degrees isn't shit.

To be nice, use the voice commands. "Temperature max cold"

lol..OP, yeah I hate the fact that you do have to wait and it feels like forever but I'm always sure to do what Carbon mentioned when I know it will be hot.

Like MrKev said, you dont need the navigation unit to run the A/C and you can set the climate control at the desired setting before turning the car off, once you start it back, climate control will pick up where u left it.

btw, the voice command won't work until the navi system is fully booted.

OP needs to buy a Toyota. Honda A/Cs suck unless you are cruising at 60.

I have to agree with this option. I live in Oklahoma where I am pretty sure the weather is significantly hotter than it is up there. I bought a sunshade that is sized for the RL, so there isn't any sun sneaking in from the windshield and then I crack the windows down just a bit. I also have my windows tinted which helps out quite a bit. If that doesn't work for you, then come visit somewhere where it actually gets hot for about a week and then go back home and realize how nice it actually is.

^ I admit I may have over-reacted a bit. It has been a little hot and I will be blame it on the heat. OP better live somewhere actually hot though. Haha

Thought maybe you were savvy on tracking IP addresses.

My skills have been on vacation this week. I usually task out little things like tracking IP addresses. I like to utilize my own time for bigger things like tracking down terrorists and turning vegans back into meat eaters.

If you start the car and hit the AC button right away doesn't that screen come up?
But if not the case, the auto feature should be blowing out cold air right away anyway.

If the memory functions are working and the FOBs are synched then yes the settings will be the same at start up

After rereading, I'm guessing the OP wants to get the AC to blow at max cold setting. Thus, probably changes temp setting to very low at startup, then adjusts to normal setting after car has cooled.

Even when my car is very hot at startup, the AC will not blow cold air at the highest fan setting unless temp is set very low

No Honda will blow cold air while idling after startup in 100 degrees. Cooler than outside? Sure. But not cold.

I get what you are saying though. He needs to get to "Lo" as fast as possible. I still vote voice commands.

I was thinking more of fan speed than air temp
Those voice commands are hard to get right when under heat

Its faster to flip down the temp. switch down to Lo then waiting for the Nav system to boot up and use voice command.

I wish I could test it.

Anyone want to find out the fastest way to get to "Lo" from 70?

I have a remote starter so by the time I get in the car, the temp is actually bearable.

Really it's just annoying to me, my old car had a remote starter so it was a non issue ... However my girlfriend thinks it's the end of the world ...

Thanks everyone, temp usually isn't an issue as its usually on low when I leave the car. It's the fan speed ... Since it's cool when I leave the car, the fan is usually on the lowest setting ... I was looking for a way to crank it up as quickly as possible as soon as I get in the car.

Looks like I might just be better off trying to plan ahead better and maybe invest in a sun screen.

If AC is on auto, fan speed should adjust automatically and go to a high setting if car is hot. Still say the fastest way it to crank the temp button setting down as soon as you start the car

I gave up on using auto AC fan speed pretty quickly. Maybe I'll give it another shot. (temp degree is always set tp the lowest in the summertime in my car)

And @Carbon - I tested out the keychain trick to wind the windows down over the weekend, pretty fricken sweet IMO. I think this would get rid of a big chunk of the problem.

Thanks again everyone!
