2005 RL Sunroof problem, no 1 touch and will not fully close

A nice early summer day driving in Colorado REQUIRES the use of a sunroof. I think it's actually state law. So the other day when I went to open my sunroof I just flicked the switch to open and to my surprise it just moved an inch, or for the amount of time that my finger held the switch back.

Now, it fully opens, if I hold the switch. Then the next problem came up. When I went to close it again, the one touch did not work. The most disturbing thing is the fact that when the roof completely shuts, it's continues on into the vent position. So, to fully close the roof I have to just tweak it back and forth until I reach (what I hope) is a sweet spot and it's sealed.

Now I'm lucky to have covered parking at work but I was hoping that the experts reading this would have some clue beyond just taking it to the dealer and getting a huge bill to pay.

Thank you, in advance!

Perfect! You rock. I thought I was staring down a $150 Acura bill.

I had the exact same problem. Luckily, I'm still under warranty, so I got it fixed by the dealer - they replaced the sunroof motor and all is now good.

Sunroof in 2005 RL

Great post, now works great without having to schedule an appointment with Acura a week from and how much $$$$$ they would have charged to fix.

Experienced the same problem on my car - and this did the trick in fixing it. However, curious why it occurred in the first place - no recent change with the battery or electrical system - working fine one day and had the problem the next.
