I've been a long time AcuraZine member. I've just got an 06 RL A-Spec alongside my moded 05 TL A-Spec. I have a quick question for everyone. Just curious, does anyone know if the 09 USB connector work with 05-08 HU? Since the 09 have similar HU as rest of the 2nd Gen RL, what does it take to integrate that with earlier 2nd Gen RL. The 09 RL and TL are both too fugly to consider. That's why I decided to get the 06 RL-A-Spec. (pictures will arrive shortly)

 

I would love to know the answer to this one too. I have an 05 RL

 

Anyone? Anyone? I wonder if the HU have different part number between the 05-08 and 09.... I know that for TL, the HU are different (very different even tho they looked the same) b/w 04-06, and 07-08.... is that the case here?

 

Im going to pull this back from the dead because it still has not been answered and i was searching the forums looking for an answer without luck. Does anybody know the answer to this yet? I have a 05 RL and would love to have the USB input for my thumb drives as this is where all my music is not on ipods like everybody else.
Im beginning to see that this OEM stereo system is a PITA to upgrade as my front stage is begging for some components. But would really like the answer to the USB question... somebody? anybody?

 

You'll find that like the 07-08 TLs, the head unit is very different...it is not as easy as plugging the USB cable into the back of the head unit.

How about swapping the head unit? the dimension is about the same..... I know it might not work with the direct plug for the USB, the pre 07 doesn't even have the AUX port.... I'm sure the electronic/circuit board in the HU is different..... who knows.....

 

If you wish to spend the $2k to swap headunits, you can definitely do that

 

That's Y I am waiting for an unfortunate soul to donate their "used" parts....... but with the new RL sales, it's gonna be a looooooong while before we see one
