'05 RL - Adding screen/camera. Best place to tie in for power?

On our 2005 RL ,the plan is, instead of adding a back-up camera with the NavTool method, I want a full time view of the rear of the car. A screen/rear view that is always powered/on when car is running (or key is "on").

I'm planning to add a small, 170 degree camera inside the car, on ceiling, under the 3rd brake light. It will see the entire trunk and blind spot areas and will also work as a backup camera. It will be attached to a small 5"x3" screen on front left corner of dash.

I was thinking of tying the power to one of the fuses (such as the one for power outlets).

Anyone know a good point to get power?

Use the fuse diagram in the manual to tap into an ACC or blank slot that comes on with the ignition.

There is an ignition fuse if you want to power it when the car starts only. A good source of 12V constant in the fuse box would be the seat motor fuse. I forget what that one is called.

I got it connected though a splice in the (front) accessory connection inside the disassembled center console. Works great.

I ended up putting the 4.3" screen in the "ashtray" cubby below the control knob. The door lip keeps the screen in place with zero mounting. Looks good there. It is tiny though. I ordered a larger 5.0 inch screen (largest that will fit in cubby) and higher res (800x480). I also don't like the reflection I'm getting with my camera mounted inside (rain, 3rd brake at night) so I'm going to mount it on trunk lid or plate. I also ordered a different, more configurable camera that I can turn off the backup lines (mine still has them) as well as reverse the images if need be. I also ordered a wireless video feed cable (just to try it out).

Overall, I'm liking the results. Should work great as a blind spot monitor while driving as well as a decent backup camera. I should get and install the other stuff on Monday, I'll post a few pics afterwards.

Total cost is about $60 (if you don't buy various screens/cameras).
