Unhappy Is your Auto insurance rate cheaper since you purchased?

I found that my insurance for the RL increased when I purchased this car. It increase as much as $500 per year but there are underlying factors. I have had 3 not at fault accidents in 2004. The hood flew up on a car, Hit and run in a parking lot, and a guy forced me into a concrete barrier and he wasn't involved. That all occurred in my wifes BMW which is officially dead. However, the insurance company rates the RL higher than the Porsche or Benz. The symbol are as follows:

Porsche = 16

Benz= 17

RL = 23

Now how is it that this cars rating symbol rates so highly and it was one of only three cars ever to have a 5 star crash test award during testiing?

No one really knows how this is determined but it surely affects the rate of your insurance and I just can't find the solution or reasoning for the high rating symbol.
I expected an increase since they would naturally want to recover some of the money for the claims.

What rating symbol does you insurer rate your vehicle at?

I am with Chubb Insurance and they cant really and truthfully explain why such a high rated symbol. In fact, they probably would like to cancel my policy at this point since it will take them 10 years to recover all the money form me.

I don't know what the rating is, but I pay $289 per 6 months with a $1000 deductible for comprehensive and collision.

That's pretty good if you ask me. It's even cheaper than my Civic.

My insurance on the new RL is less than it was on my Mercedes E Class, but more than it was on my Passat. But I have GEICO as my agent.

My insurance on my 05RL is only $15 more per year than on my 04TL, which surprised me.

Mine (NYC) jumped $125/yr when the RL replaced a 2002 Lexs ES. Keep in mind that in my neighborhood the rates are among the highest in NYC -- not because we have a lot of accidents or car theft, but because we're such a cantankerous bunch of bastards that when we get a dfing, we see a lawyer before the body guy.

I think my rate went up about $100/yr compared to the 2002 Volvo XC70 Cross Country I traded in, so I can't complain.

Mine went up $140 per year as compared with the 1999 TL that I traded. I'm in NJ and insure with AIG.

My 00 TL is about $50 more, but my Civic is about $100 more. I guess RL owners don't get into trouble as much

I think I will give them a try. It probably wont matter since I have those no fault accident on my record. I just hate to spend so much money on insurance. It negates when I throw the third car in the equation though.

I'm almost 25, have no tickets for the past 35 months, and 1 not-at-fault accident.

I think it will drop a lot when I turn 25 and have that accident roll off my record.
