Xzilon Molecular Adhesion

I tried searching for threads on here for this XZILON stuff the dealership is telling my dad about. I've looked up on other forums, and people are talking about how it's usually $500, and that each year you have to take your car in and get it reapplied, and that waxing or polishing your car voids warranties of the XZILON. It's basically just a really durable sealent. I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences with the stuff. Thanks in advance.

Just BS . All sealants are crap. Just use a decent polymer wax twice a year and save $490 in the process.

You can buy the stuff for $50 on eBay. You are paying for the warranty but I wonder how easy it would be to have a successful claim. If you want to protect your car, keep it clean and add a coat of decent wax once in a while. Even with the Xzilon, you'd have to wash the car and if you go through a car wash (unless it's "touchless") you'll void the warranty (there are plenty of other ways to void the warranty as well).

The dealer probabley pockets $250 of the $500 and the sales associate gets a few dollars more for selling it. In many cases, this type of product is not even applied and the dealer or manufacturer relies on you're not submitting a claim or their not honoring the warranty (finding a way in the fine print to turn down a claim). This is widespread among car dealers.

Find a decent detailer and pay him to clean your car annually. It'll look better and the car will be better protected.

Here's some light reading from professioanl detailers.
