Xenon/Auto question

My car goes from the garage in my home to the garage in my office. Have been leaving the headlight setting on auto. Prior to exiting the car, I get the warning sound to alert me that the lights are on. Of course they go office when I exit the car. Anyone know if the warning sound is normal even though I'm using the AUTO setting for the headlights. Also, will the Xenons wear out quicker from going on & office due to the dim lighting in the garage?

Apparently the software in the car is still programmed to chime the reminder when the headlights are set on auto. It was a minor annoyance for another member as well. I wouldn't worry about it.

As for the Xenons, you might end up replacing the bulbs a little quicker that other cars, but it shouldn't be by much.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this question...I have had my RL for two days and the chimes was bothering me and I was going to go back to the dealer to check it out. I expected I was leaving something on. In all my prior Lexus models the Auto Headlight feature did NOT chime at you when you left the car. Helps to know this is a "feature" of Acura.

Yep, asked my dealer about the chime ... they are aware of and say there is nothing that can be done about this "feature" . Have noticed the auto light feature turning on the lights too when pulling into the garage, somewhat annoying. Finally, in the manual (I think there) it says to turn the lights fully on if driving in the dark to avoid having the lights go off under certain conditions ( I guess if you go under lit underpass, etc.). For these reasons I have decided NOT to use the auto feature-too bad. This needs work by Acura.

Many people say that the lights don't last long, but my 5 year old TL with 117k miles still has the stock HID's.

Last time I went to service my car, the tech there drove out my car to test-drive it. When he returned, he got stuck by a few of his co-workers. He then flashed my HID by the speed of 5 times/second for 20~30 seconds while his fellows were slowly moving other cars. I just hate that happens on my car and HIDs.

Yes auto on/off, unlike the TL auto off only.

They are light sensitive and can be set to come on in various degrees of darkness.
