Mud Guards - what do you think?

I ordered my RL with 6 dealer options. Mud guards was not one of them. I liked the clean look of the car without them.

Three days after picking up my car I noticed something odd - it had mud guards. Yup, it took me three days to notice, but they were three rainy, dreary days, and I really didn't have time to admire the car. But that third day, I noticed them. And I liked them! Was it because I got something for nothing? Was it because they looked different (better) in real life than in the pictures? Beats me, I can't explain why I did a 180 on this. But I'm keeping them.

Would you put them on your car if they didn't cost anything?

Not pretty sure about 05RL's paint finish. But, I know the mud guards used to easily scratch the paint. If you plan to remove it in the near future, please make sure you would do some cleaning/protection works out there. IMO. I got free mud guards on my 94Legend and 99 GS300, I never disliked them and never removed them, either. However, my 04TL has not installed them yet.

This is another thread ever discussing it...

The jury is still out for me on the splash guards.

I'm actually in the dealership right now getting the rear spoiler and wood shift knob installed (my Christmas gift to myself! ) but I'm still not sold on the splash guards. I may get them eventually.

I thought the same way about the spoiler as I did about the mud guards - I did not want it because I wanted a clean look. Ended up not getting the spoiler. Funny thing is, I bet if the dealer had put the spoiler on my car by accident (as it did with the mud guards), I'd probably love it. Go figure...

First car I have not added the splash guards to, just didn't think I liked the look. Strange because the color-coded version really is a great idea and optimizes the look. If you like the look, I say go for it (just not for me ... not yet).

I got the rear deck soiler too with the splash guard. Guess it is based upon everyone's preference. I am glad I got the rear deck spolier. Looks great.
