I'll skip your PM and just respond here. The 2G TL and MDX wood knob use the same wood as the RL. I believe it is called "burlwood". All Acura knobs use the same thread size, and I would venture to say that many, many aftermarket knobs do too. Almost as if it is universal(?).
I was told "the TL knob fits", so I hit ebay with a "TL wood knob" search and came up with something that looked right. I went ahead and bought it, and while the wood did match, the height was way off. I did a write up on how to counter sink the knob so that it sits correctly, and I think it looked great. I had no issues tightening the knob down. However, I removed it a total of 3 times. The last time was to sell it, and the buyer claimed that it would continue to spin. As long as you don't take it off multiple times, you won't have any issues stripping the wood out.
It needs to be noted that there are some "TL knobs" that do not match the RL wood, so be sure to get the right kind. My instructions for countersinking the knob and good pictures of the wrong knob are all here: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...rl-diy-872433/

FWIW, this appears to be the same kind of knob that I used even though it says 3G TL. ![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)

Leather can get just as hot as any other part of your car. Perhaps you would do better with a window shade.

But is the leather in direct sun same as the wood? You would have to have the wheel turned more than 90 degrees for that to be true.
The stock wheel has no contour like the wood wheel. It feels and looks very sub-par compared to the wood wheel. Also, there are many benefits to the longevity of your interior by using a sun-shade. Not to mention, a sun shade is a lot easer to install.
It's your car, and you're welcome to do whatever you please. I just don't see it solving all of your problem, and you are likely to be disappointed with the aesthetic result.

Sure, just move the mirror control side selector switch to the center. Then neither will tilt down. It only tilts down to the side that the switch is set to. Nice feature, and nice to turn it off, for those of us who back with mirrors.

Move the power mirror switch to the middle position of you don't want the mirrors to move in reverse. (EDIT: good work Shahram.

A good sunshade really does make a huge difference for the dashboard and interior. I got one of these covercraft shades for my RL (UVS100 Custom Sunscreens - UV Protection for the Interior) and it does a great job in blocking UV heat. My '99 TL's dash still looks new. I always use a sunshade when it's parked outside.
yea maybe i will start using it in the summer , thanks

I have the same Covercraft sunshade as Schen, above, and it's excellent. Our RL is parked outside in sunny Pacific Beach every day, all day and sunshades matter! Heck, my slide-ups aren't even black, anymore.
I still have my leather wheel and shift knob. Boy, are the contours of the wood sport wheel and wooden knob a lot better! I have no trouble with heat on the wood from sun, because I live in a sunny place and already know not to grab the wheel Top Dead Center if the car is hot. 9 and 3 boys, 9 and 3.

Sun shades are pretty much a requirement here. You can literally burn the back of your legs on black leather seats if you can't keep the sun out.

A competent tint shop can also tint the inside of your windshield and a LEO or inspection shop will never tell the difference. There are tints made specifically for that purpose, I have Panaflex 70% UV Clear on my '07. Makes all of the difference in the world but sunshades are great as well.

My 99TL got relegated to parking outside several years ago as I only have a 2-car garage. Now the headlights are all faded, the roof and hood is oxidizing and the clearcoat is totally gone. My other two cars that are garaged still look brand new.

Took me 2 hrs and a broken drill bit but it is completed and I love it .. You really have to drill out the knob and I take your time cause there's a metal object inside in the center of the shift knob.. Once u finally drill thru that which took me an hour u have to drill the wood but I love it

Not identical, but same wood. The shape and collar are slightly different, but all threaded Acura knobs will fit. You may find it listed as 2G or 3G TL or MDX. Just make sure it's the dark burlwood and not the orange wood depicted in the DIY link.

so ive gotten a few things done, I got the steering wheel on which really makes the interior so much better especially with the wood shift knob to match
I also waxed polished and detailed the exterior and interior which the paint shines better than it did 10 years ago along with the interior
I installed the HIDs in the fogs and at first i did wish they were a little more blue or purple but now that they've warmed up more they look so nice they have a LED HID look to them but really match well together
I am still waiting to tint the car 15% all around i was going to do 5% but with the rear shades it already helps add a more darker interior so im happy with 15%
I also installed my AS3 Michelin tires which really help in terms of making tight fast turns on the on and off ramps![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
the entire interior and exterior and every lightbulb has been changed to LED
I have a question ill end up searching or making a thread.. my next thing to do is rear view camera ill be using Navtool and a universal rear camera.. (the one most of everyone has bought on ebay already) how would i go about getting my music to stream using NavTool? what do i need?
I have a FM transmitter and it gets the job done but it causes too much ststic and the quality isnt all there

The NavTool is video only. There is no sound component. If you want to play video with it, you have to split the source and send video signal to the NavTool and audio signal to the stereo or aftermarket interface.

Searching and linking on my phone is a bit tedious. The short answer is USASpec and GROM. There's a great amount of info on all the options in the Audio subforum.
