Sorry to hear that... first I would say make sure you get OEM glass, not aftermarket crap.

It is $542 here + clips and such. My guess, with installation close to $800-1000. Does your insurance policy have a free glass replacement endorsement - without deductible? Some states require this, I would check into that. It may take a while to get the clips - somebody had said they had to order the clips from Japan and it took almost a month to get.

Check your insurance policy. Most policies have full glass coverage with no deductable....

Also, make sure that the glass they put in is clear -- I've had issues with distortion in replacement glass.

I've had distortion issues with OEM replacement glass, too... it was a SAAB windshield with a giant wave in the middle.

I too would insist upon OEM glass, but I would also make sure of the repair facility that does the work. Windshields that have antennas and such in them require special silicone glazing.

Make sure they order the top molding as it has to be replaced......and they also order new clips for the cowl molding or it might not fit back tight. This is what happened to me. Good luck.

I was driving on I26 in East TN yesterday and a truck threw a rock and hit my windshield. Did'nt think it had broken at first, but about 2 hours later the crack was about 1/2 down the windshield. The hit was at the very top of the windshield and if it had been 1/2" higher would have hit the molding. I hate to have a windshield replaced for fear of water leaks or wind noise.

It must be that time of year! I got my first nasty bullseye yesterday. I was just wondering how much it would cost to replace the window- I think for now I can just deal with it, even though it is only a few inches below my line of vision.
