window regulator - buy new or used

Good morning!

I need to replace my window regulator. Just wondering if folks have purchased a new aftermarket and which brand or try to find a good used oem regulator. The new acura ones seem to be $500. Thanks!

I'd be surprised if you find get an aftermarket one.

A new one will give you another X years' faultless service, but is it worth bolting such an old car to it?

I'd be inclined to try to find one from a breaker's/wrecker's yard first.

Thanks for the response. I decided to go that route and found a used one. Price wasn't bad.

New aftermarket

What year RL do you have? I have a 2005 RL, and I've had to replace two different window regulators along the way. I purchased aftermarket ones from Rockauto.com for about about $125.00. They are still working.

Hi, I have a 2008. I found a nice used one so I just went with it. Just installed it and the window now works fine. I do have an issue though and this sounds embarrassing.

SO I hooked up the few connectors towards the front of the door panel that are obvious but there was one white square connector towards the back right behind where the interior door handle is located. I looked and looked and can not figure out or remember where this hooks up. What an I missing? I left it unplugged for now just to check the window function. What does not work now is the auto window and auto driver's door lock and unlock feature. Can someone please help me where this plug goes? Thank you!!

Does the door handle illuminate at night? That could be your answer.

If it's driver's door, IIRC there are two connectors; one for the window controls and one for the anti-Darwin isolator switch on the armrest. But it's been a while...

The 'auto' function probably requires you to do the window re-set routine so it can find the limit stops of the new motor.

Hi,

Now that you mention it I do not think the door handle illuminates. I will pull the panel off again to double check everything. Thank you for the tip, really appreciate it.

Did the auto window reset and also found a loose connector which was affecting the auto door lock function.

Thanks for the help and we are back to 100% operational.
