where are all the RL's?
where are all the RL's?
I was getting my license plate brackets installed yesterday at the dealership so I was browsing the showroom and lot. There were no (zero) RL's on the whole property.
I had the same experience at another dealership near my home.
Where are all the RL's hiding?

They have been built out and Honda rations them to dealers. Dealers cannot sell what they do not have.
From what I have read the current activity at Saitama for RL production was to support inventory for China. US and Canada spec RLs were built out by end of January.

RL's are hard to sell nowadays especially when you have so much competition in that price range. The RL basically went unchanged since 05 when they came out (2G). Also I think they are people are waiting for the long awaited RLX.
I agree the RL is a rare car, but since I bought mine in May I am seeing them alot more up here in New England (2G models).
Course, I live in seacost NH not far from Kittery, Maine so several of them have been tourist cars from VT, NY, PA...but still, I have spotted more then a handful of RLs in a couple short months....They are out there.

There isn't any financial support from Honda right now, since the volume is so low. Maybe invoice? Or if you find a dealer with one just sitting there, maybe $1500 under invoice?
When I got my '05 in July 2005, Honda had $6000 manufacturer to customer and $2500 from manufacturer to dealer. Those were awesome times!

So, would you say my hopes of getting one sitting in the lot for $40K when MSRP is $53,245 are dashed?
Here's the quote I got today:
MSRP: $53,245.00
Your E Discount: $3,247.00
*Your Internet Price: $49,998.00
We have priced the car just $950.00 over invoice.
How much more do you think they'll go?

The RL's are being discontinued, so you wont see them in showrooms any more unless they trade it in with low low miles. they are being discontinued for good, the new rl is now the new RLX. which is sweet. hybrid engine. more MPG. yayyyy...
That is correct or close enough. It is also a good enough indication that buying a brand new '12 RL right now would be a little silly when you could pick one up in 6-12 months for the $40 you are looking for with minimal miles.
