What features do you want to see in the new RL?
#81
As stated, this thread is old so the new RL should be relative to todays products and innovations. E.G. the 2012 RL has a lot of the features mentioned but I would like to add a few more:
The customizable dash on a VGA is a great idea that should be saveable via Driver 1 and Driver 2 with additional recallable configurations.
An additional VGA for menus and Nav. Nav should be Google maps with traffic and a subscription to data. Touchscreens suck so stay with the RL system.
The shocks from the Advance MDX (comfort and Sport controls).
3.7 liter lightly blown for 360/360.
HDD audio system with optional itunes interface with sharing to/from PC and Macs and ieverythings.
Stay with the RL key fob system.
Put MID functions on the NAV VGA.
Include more customizable options. E.G. which mirror dips when in reverse. Do you want the rear sunshade to stay up in reverse. Allow range selectable blind spot indicators. etc.
UV reflective glass with electrically controlled opacity.
I am not sure that any more than 6 speed tranny offers anything extra. The trans on the 3.7 6 speed with always active paddles and sport mode is excellent.
There are many software changes that I could recommend but that may have to be another day.

Just one more thing
Electrochromatic (self dimming) driver's side mirror. My 12 year old Chevy Blazer has it and it's great. When the rear view mirror senses bright lights and dims, so does the driver's side mirror. Very nice! I never even think about it when trucks with higher mounted lights pass me. Great safety feature.

New RL Features
Passed my 2006 RL to my son two years ago to get a 2011 Infiniti M37x. The RL is still running troublefree and only problem was A/C compressor replacement with cost covered by extended warranty.
Acura should take a look at the Infiniti's backup camera screen. Hope I can describe it here. The screen has lines which turn with the movement of the steering wheel. As a result, you can always see which position your front wheels are in. Great for parking. Recently had to do a long distance reverse and, if I wanted to, could have used the backup screen for the full distance instead of mirrors and turning my head.
I still come back here to get updates on the RL hoping to see if Acura is catching up with Infiniti and Lexus. I'll be back in an RL (Legend) if they do.
