What else should I do when changing coolant?

Hi All,

I have a 2005 RL that was purchased with 60K miles on it. I had the timing belt done at 105K, the vehicle now has 165K and got the A15 maintenance minder warning. I had replaced the coolant, two radiator hoses and thermostat at that time.

While I have the coolant out, should I replace the thermostat and hoses again? The hoses look fine and thermostat has not had any problems, but one can never tell, right?

I would venture to guess that the Maintenance Minder will tell me to do the timing belt again at 210K or so, i.e. in another 50K it will probably get replaced anyway.

The hoses (Gates) and Thermostat (Aisin, OEM supplier for this part to Acura) altogether is only about $65.

Thoughts?

When I had the timing belt done, the shop used Prestone coolant, which I was not wild about, Does that matter much since Prestone has a coolant specifically for Honda vehicles?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I go with oem only
I think it's gates or dayco . I believe dayco hoses expand . And leak. Garbage.

I go oem everything. Very few manufacturers make better than oem.
I used psb poly bushings. Only the middle bushings of front control arms. Definitely an improvement. Oem were way too soft. Everything else is oem rubber. Too much poly make cars ride like skateboard.

I'd recommend replacing the lower radiator hose as it is more difficult to replace should it fail. The upper hose is easy to replace so I wouldn't replace until it fails. I'd also recommend replacing the coolant temp sensors if you have money to throw around.
