C'mon, man, just buy one already. You know you want to...

Lurker here, not an owner but I've test driven 2. Since I'm a coupe driver I never (before) considered the RL, but my first attraction to the RL was the great dash/console interior. Techy and rich, but not overdone.
I love DVD-A and have had it at home. Glad to see the new TSX has it, means Acura for the next gen anyway is staying with DVD-A, even tho it's a dying format. that's fine with me, I'm making a nice collection of timeless classic DVD-As.
I also like the size, coupe-like almost, perfect for me if I have to have 4 doors.
Exclusivity too, and used prices, there's a lot to like.
my first 2 initials too, and my 3rd is an A.
enjoy your great RLs.

Thanks for digging up this old thread from last year. Still liking my RL. I appreciate it even more after the redesign. I'm sure I'll get used to the new RL but like the matching, gentle lines of mine just fine. I plan to hang on to it for a while longer. Would you believe it? I was strongly considering a CTS-V but now think I'll just get a dedicated (used) sports car instead, and keep the RL. Time will tell what I actually do....

In speaking of things I love about my RL, here's a small one - the cupholders. If you don't know what I mean, go take a look at how tacky the 5 series are, that open up over the buttons and vents. Sometimes, it also takes the observation of something ugly to realize how good you have it!

I thought about the NSX, but man are those used ones expensive! Even a high-mileage, early NSX is still in the upper $20's-low $30's.
OTOH, I can find low-mileage early C5 Corvettes for the low $20's. I've even looked at the S2000....I found a nearly pristine 2001 S2000 locally with 28k miles for about $16k.

I have a 2005 with 33,000 miles, I love this car!
Favorites -
Interior look. I love the wood dash, I have also added the wood steering wheel and shifter. I also added wood for the center console which looks the same as the 09. I really like the shifter on the 09, hope there is a way to add it to the 05.
Navigation. Real time traffic and voice commands. The accuracy is great, I use voice commands exclusively.
Sound System. It sounds great and I really like the iPod integration. I may be one of the few people that really like the Musiclink. I have a link that allows control via the iPod in another car and I never use it. I tried a few times and it is not a good idea!
Bluetooth. The full integration of all my electronics is great.
Handling is great. Drives like a rear wheel drive car, corners great (I have the Aspec wheels and tires). More power would be great but the v-6 is plenty 90% of the time.
Keyless. Thought this was gimicky until I used it. Won't buy a new car without it now.
Comfort of driver's seat. I could sit in this all day.
The interior sold me on this car and I wasn't that keen on the exterior when I bought it. I really like the exterior now.
I had a 2000 RL that I traded in on the 2005. I had a Legend LS before that. This is the best by far of any of them. I won't have another front wheel drive car.
I also have a Carerra and enjoy driving the RL just as much as the Porsche (except on a sunny day with the top down).
It would be nice if Acura was a bit better at marketing. Although, for people that really do their homework, they will end up with this car. I looked at the Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Infinity and Lexus before getting this RL. It wasn't a hard decision once I drove all of them.
Final note. Just did an interior detail today. Used the Zanio leather conditioner (I do this at least once a year) and the interior looks as good or better than new. There is not one spot in the interior that looks worn or used. I have the black leather.

What I like the most about this car is that considerable thinking went into all most every aspect of the car design with the goal of making the car driver oriented and easy to use. There is a ton of technology in the car and it all works well:
navigation with voice command amd traffic that really works well and is intuitive - have used lexus and prior acuras . .. this is the best.
Doors with double seals and that close easily.
BT HFL that works well and is intuitive.
keyless entry that works well - no other maker uses a concealed contact switch on the door handle.
Cupholder with mutiple configurations for different cups.
The attention to detail on small issues flows over into how the entire car just works well togther.

Love the solid, planted feel and fit and finish
I was in San Francisco this week on business and rented a late model Toyota Avalon. The only plus was more rear room. The trunk closed with a tinny sound. The car had a lot of wind noise. The steering was too light. The doors closed with a tinny sound.
It really made the RL stand out when I got home.

wow - a revival from one year ago. I will chime in (2005 RL with 67K):
SWAWD is favorite
second best is the navi controls whether using the knob or voice
I remember reading some critic trash the UI on the Navi. I find it the most intuitive gps that I have ever used.

A+
I like the RL in every aspect as it came with. I have an 06 Tech pack with cmbs.I love every inch of it. My wife says i am obsessed with it.
The Technology.
CMBS...More convenient ,i relax a lot in high driving.
Run Flat tires...Of course i don't even bother to watch the road for any hazards like metal pieces.
Voice recognition...mmm pretty good and responds to me exactly like i needed.
ACC:: Pretty safe on highway driving...
Navigation: accurate..
SH-AWD:: marvelous Engineering... .I drive with utmost confidence in curves and snow falling season....
key less entry:: I am a bit lazy person and this works out very well for me..
Power: I am not a harsh driver or need tremendous power what my RL have is enough for me.
In Total 110/100.

Does the RL share anything in the engine bay with the NSX? That'd be cool!

I think the S2000 is the best Pure Sports car ever made for the money. The only thing they did wrong was make them too smal so a guy like me(6'8") couldn't fit.
The S2000 kicks a$$ on Boxsters and Z3s for over $10000 less in most cases.

Much of what is prevalent in the Acura line-up today started out in the NSX.
To name a few.
Electronic Power Steering
Drive by wire throttle
Aluminum suspension and body panels
of course VTEC
There's more I'm sure.
