Thanks - a woman took a illegal left into me about 28mph. It didn't really hurt on impact, but my arm is sore. I am more sad about the car - but I did drive it home and it drove straight so there is hope.

I think I can see a tear running down the bumper in the first pic.

It is something I never want to find out in person, but how was the reaction of the car regarding side curtain airbags and such?

Glad you are okay.

Airbags didn't deploy - it was a hard hit but the car absorbed it nicely. And I was hit by a Saturn so that helps too - it didn't sit high off the ground. Believe me I am impressed how well the car did - and I had my kid with me but she was in a carseat on the passenger rear seat. She barely felt a thing.

The drivers door won't open but the cops thought it'd be ok to drive home and it drove fine. I am bummed though I had it all ready to go for my trip tomorrow and now I have to drive one of my other cars. I am thankful it turned out as well as it did, but hopefully I can keep 'er.

if the saturn was really going that fast I think the car too the hit like a champ, glad you and your kid are fine.

I do have a suspicion that the hit was under 20mph as sidebags would have deployed otherwise.

That is possible - she got me good though and her car didn't hold up quite as well.

unfortunately I did get the car door open and there is some damage to the door frame underneath on the pillar - around where the tire inflation sticker is.

happy to hear you and your child is ok, also good to see that the rl holds up in a hard looking impact like that.

Damn man. I'm assuming you were in CO when this happened since there's snow on the ground. Where were you in town? That sucks BTW. Women drivers...

either way, the car did what it's supposed to do, protect the occupants. If it's frame damage my bet is on total loss.

Well I took it in to the shop - it is not totalled, but will take 6 weeks to repair. Ugh. I miss my car already. The insured's company is picking up a rental car bill for that time period so I have a car to drive, but I want my car back. The reason I went with the RL is to have a safe awd car to drive over harrowing snowy passes.

They gave me a Sonata so I hope this thing is good on snowy passes -which I doubt because it is super light. However its not a bad car - I enjoy driving it on the highway, decent power for a 4cyl, great gas mileage(33avg), and the Bluetooth is better than my car. Being light it does not respond to wind very well and the all seasons are so-so in the snow on flat surfaces. But it is better than nothing and I have another back up if I need it.

12k roughly in damage.

Aahh it's not too bad... yeah that'll buff right out.

Seriously glad you are o.k. I think t-bone accidents have a higher rate of death than front collisions.

I'm glad you are all right. I'm surprised the side curtain airbags didn't deploy though. That is a bit odd. Hopefully she will be on the road again in no time.

I got 'er back on Tuesday and drove 500 miles - it looks great and I definately realized how much I missed the car in 40+ mph gusts of Wind. I'll post a pic when I have a chance!
