Weight

These cars tip the scales at 3984
Wondering where is all the weight, from what I know the front suspension and front subframe, rear suspension and rear subframe , engine is all aluminum block and heads.
And rear driveshaft is carbon fiber.
What else is aluminum?

And where the heck is all the weight in these RL's ?

AWD? I know to me the panels seem thicker .. all the body seems insanely solid like a 1950's American car.

The doors feel significantly heavier than the doors on my 2016 ILX. This car is built like a tank, which means WEIGHT.

Hood, fenders, trunk lid, bumper beams are also aluminum.

Think about all the modules & electronics this car has, plus wiring, sound deadening. Dead weight for daayyyysss..

Well they call luxury sedan for a reason. FYI the drive shaft isnt 100% carbon fiber, its carbon fiber reinforced.

I was talking weight reduction with a buddy who owns a BRZ and he started hitting the gym to reduce the weight since he couldn't strip anything else in the car.

I mean it's not a bad idea.. same concept as cyclists that try and get titanium bolts and carbon fiber everything.. just stop eating those damn Dunkin donuts every morning and super sized French flies.

Jaguars are all-aluminium and are still pretty portly.

It's all the insulation and electrickery and stuff.

In the Legend's case, it's literally that - the trick rear diff with its three overdrive units is a heavy old lump.

The KB1 legend (RL in the state) isn't nowhere close to be sport luxury sedan, however the SH-AWD actually trick the driver think its sporty and all of that aluminum component there to keep reasonable MPG (15-16 city, 24-28 highway)
