Hello new RL owner needs help

Hello I just bought a used 07 RL type SH . The car came with only 1 key. The dealership wants $460 for a new. I cannot afford this.
I found the exact same key brand new for $179 on eBay. Will it work? How to program it?

Hi, since this is more of a problem question rather than a general new member introduction, I'm going to move it to the 2G RL section from New Member Introductions so you can hopefully get specific answers to your questions.

Welcome and happy motoring!

Shop around for key, you would be surprised on dealer pricing differences across the US.
eBay I have bought keys before, as long as they are OEM (with manufacturer matching part). Then you can program it - pls note programming will be expensive as well, so you may end up paying $176 for the key and 200-300$ for programming at the dealer (depending how much they rip off ppl for such service)

Out TL 4th gen key came out $230 all in (key and programming)... luckily my RL came with two keys.

So in my case I bought a used one from the exact ebay seller, dealer fiddle around for a day and can't get program so I end up return to the seller (super cool guy). Well technically I should ate the labor cost since dealer already cut the actual key and trying two days to program it but in the end its cost me 0 dollar yes NO CHARGE (also noted I got a MDX loaner for three days) a week later I came back with brand new OEM remote and key insert and they able to cut and program the key for $140 (again I got MDX loaner for 2 days). New key won't let me do keyless entry feature and I can't turn the knob with the key in my pocket however I can insert the key into ignition and start just fine, so here I am back to the dealer for the 3rd time and they taken care everything for NO CHARGE again.
