www.zainobros.com - most people generally agree that it is the best stuff out there.

This thread describes in detail how to use it and what to buy:

I wouldn't put anything else on any of my cars.

Klasse

On my black RL I've had good luck with Klasse AIO, if light cleaning is needed, followed by a couple layers of the Glaze for depth of shine. It's easy to apply and remove.

The great thing about Zaino is that it lasts up to 2 years, unlike wax which starts to breakdown almost immediately and only stays shiny and protective for a few days with most of them. I honestly can't imagine anyone who's tried Zaino ever using anything else.

I concur with the Zaino lovers here. Nothing beats Zaino! I don't like their new ZFX stuff but not because it doesn't work but only because it is not much easier or faster to apply than Z-1 and I have wasted a lot of Z-2 because whatever you don't use you have to throw away at the end.

I now use Z-1, Z-2 and Z-6 for the extra shine between aplications or after washing the car. All my cars get Zaino.

I got a Zaino kit when I bought the RL, but am too lazy/scared to learn how to use their products...also weather was too humid, then I got busy, now it's kinda cold and damp. As you can see, a lot of folks swear by Zaino.

So, I've been using Griot's Best of Show liquid carnauba-based wax and also some of their other products...Speed Shine, etc., and have been applying these products by hand. These go on and wipe off easily. And, I don't have to be retrained to use these.

I got a Porter Cable random orbital for Christmas, and expect to use it initially, with the Griot's products, on my venerable Honda, weather permitting.

Will I be able to pick up the Zaino locally or do I have to order it?

For those not so inclined to purchase the whole Zaino kit and spend the time necessary to apply all of the products in the prescribed order, what are the minimum essential products in the kit? My RL is over a year old but is in very clean condition without scratches. It is regularly washed and I use an inexpensive wax/shiner that is applied before drying. Last waxed about 6 months ago so the RL is due for a new application. Seems like the Z-2 and maybe the Z-6 should be sufficient. I also use Griot's Speed Shine in between washes and swear by it so maybe even Z-6 would not be needed as it seems redundant to Speed Shine. Thoughts?? Thanks.

Z-2 and Z-6 for maintenance (or the new Z-8 instead of 6 which I defintely prefer although it's more expensive). The first time you apply it though you'll need either Z-1 (and Z-5 if you have any swirl marks) or ZFX. After the first application you only need Z-2 and Z-6 or 8. Also remember that the prep phase before applying any Zaino requires stripping the wax from the car with Dawn dish detergent and then claying the car. I don't recommend the Zaino claybar honestly as I didn't like it at all and everyone I know including myself prefers the blue claymagic kit that you can get at any pep-boys or autozone.

I second the above statements. Stick with the Speed Shine instead of Z6, use only Z-2 but as stingerbtry says you will need to strip the wax with Dawn and apply Z-1 before Z-2. You need to buy Z-1 and Z-2 and a small bottle of Dawn detergent, that's it. The process is much easier than it sounds. The one thing I love about Zaino besides the awesome shine is that it does not leave any residue of any kind - like the white stuff all waxes leave behind. Word of caution: apply very sparingly to the point of . . if you see the layers of Z-1 or Z-2 as you apply it, you are applying too much.

Bucking the Zaino trend

I have a Black 2002 RL and use One Grand Blitz Wax. Very easy to apply, deep wet finish, and durable. $20 for 15oz so the price is right also. Just my .02
