Update on 2011 RL
2011 rl
Grill looks even more imposing, but not bad. I thought Acura was to tone down the grill though???
Looks like a spoiler on the deck lid? Acura claims new rear end update.
Wheels look great.
A lot of the automotive press knock the looks of the RL and say it is bland. I completely disagree. I think the car has great lines and is aging very gracefully.
I will be very anxious to drive it, see all of the updates, and hopefully much improved fuel economy over the 2010 model.
My dealer says January or February 2011 intro.
Tks for posting the pics!

I got these from the Acura Insider Twitter page ... I am sure that more will be coming soon (as well as info) as these were on display w/ the TSX wagon.
I think that I like the new grille better - have to do some pic comparisons - but it looks more luxury to me.
Those rims are awfully aggressive looking - especially for an Acura. I always thought that Acura's rims were rather bland (slight variations of the 5 spoke) but ~2008 it was obvious that they were trying to improve - the MMC TL was the 1st time that I noticed the change.
Hopefully some spy shots of the 3rd generation will appear soon as I keep putting off purchasing a new car & now that the RL has the 6 speed, I am more tempted than ever - if only they kept the bionic headlights of the 2005-2008 model & gave an option out of the interior wood (like a metal trim kit) or black wood on black leather ...

i dont expect the zdx and crosstour to survive.
they are both a very rare sight on the road.
im looking to replace my 07 tl.
i been sitting on the sidelines awaiting the 2011 rl.
the current tl styling just doesnt cut it for me.
il spring for the extra cash for more power, all wheel drive, and what i consider better styling.
bringing out the 2011 rl in february makes it a 2011 1/2.
not many like buying cars that late in model year.
i know i dont like buying a new ride in the middle of the snow and salt season.
in addition the car is already 1/2 year old for future depreciation values.
the rl needs to scrap that interior brown colored wood trim,or at least offer more choices for ebony wood, and aluminum sport trim, similar to bmw 5.i will not buy one with brown wood trim,so im hoping the 2011 offers a better choice.
if not a factory option,at least a dealer installed option.the ebony wood was only available with the parchment interior, and i believe that interior color has been dropped for 2001 model, replaced with an orchid color.
those new wheels dont look like an improvment, over the ones they replaced.
i might just have to sit and wait for 2012.hopefully that will arrive in fall of 2011 and not winter of 2012.

Last rumor I had heard, was that the 3rd generation RL would be a 2012 model ... someone told me that the RL got extensive refreshening in 2004 right before the 2005 FMC - so who knows.
I would like to wait for the 2012 model (I prefer to be an early adopter & get things their 1st model year) but from everything I have heard so far, it seems like the size/price are going up ... and I have always said that I would not spend more than $50k on a car -- and Acura likes to stick the goodies I want like ventilated seats in the uber-expensive advance pkg.
The ZDX will probably be a 1 generation wonder - granted a long generation like the Element. The Accord CrossTour, I hope that they come out w/ an LX version to bring the price down - and hopefully make the shape more wagon-like. I guess it is to avoid cross-shopping but I still wonder why the Accord CrossTour got the v6 AWD & the TSX Sport wagon got the i4 FWD ... seems backwards to me.

I am picturing a light lavender color ... not sure how that would work.
I really hope that 1 day they will offer the black wood that comes w/ the gray leather on the black leather. That would be ideal for me ... or even better, a metal trim kit that replaces all the wood.
Yes, rear sensors are already an option (perhaps it is a new version?):

Back-Up Sensors
* The Back-Up Sensors can assist you in difficult parking spots and alert you to obstacles that may be behind you, but out of your line of sight
* The driver is alerted by audible beeps as objects are approached
* Color-matched to original factory paint specifications for a factory appearance
MSRP: $533

The RL was always my favorite Acura sedan with the initial new grill. The 09 TL I like however the car looks how can I say it "porkly". Actually the TSX is what I'd expect the TL to be with a tad more rear seat room and still keep "real" aluminum trim and such. This make me wish/hope keeping the Bush tax rates will have me see more income so I can afford a used 2011 RL in 2014...lol. Did this democrat actually wish something from Bush's era works? I'll def give credit where it's due...lol.
Most new models take at least a one-two year lead time to get into production. Most of the final concepts have been decided upon so that production molds and sub vendors have time to gear up for production. Some items like trim, final designs can be hashed out near the end but the orders have to get to vendors. There is at least one more year before we see the new version, so it would be wonderful to know that the parent company is reading our comments and incorporating our desires. The RL needs to be set apart from the rest of the crowd, that is how you get buyers to the show room floor. We know what we own and drive, we are on our 2nd one. The public only knows what it sees, so some good advertising will be beneficial.

If that is your car, it looks really good. However, I am not the mod type of guy. I wouldn't know where to go to get those types of mods nor do I have the time to invest in doing that. I have tinted windows and that's it. If the 3rd Gen RL is more aggressive looking from the factory with some decent options, I'd take that over any of the Germans. Nothing can beat Acura reliability. Even after 5.5 years of ownership, I love my 3G TL.

All the mods are simple and safe, I wouldn't mess around with a good thing too much. Hell if you just paint the grill you'll feel better already ;-)
6 speed tranny good for 17/24 or an average of 20
advance package gives you auto folding mirrors
Tire noise technology in 15 spoke rims
Backup sensors standard on advance
The back doesn't look like it changed at all, but I really like the new grill and wheels. Here is a link to more pictures:

Good review. He says the wheel technology decreases interior noise by 15% over 2010 RL.

That color looks great......deep dark cabernet???
I will be very anxious to test drive the 2011 RL. I do not think Acura is going to make many conquest sales with the 2011 RL. I think Acura's main objective is to keep current RL owner's in the Acura family with minimal investment until a totally new RL is available.
Would like to see that dark cabernet color RL with Mr. 037's custom Ron Jon wheels.
