Under dash light

Hi guys, have someone has upgrade the led under the dash. I always noticed how faint it light up so I went ahead and took the panel apart and I removed the cap that covers the led and it's more brighter but the light don't spread so it look like a spot light. I might end putting the little covers back if I can't find any other way. I can't take credit of this mod as I saw on the TL section. The 4G TL is super easy to do but the led's are different as it comes on a small housing.

Here's the photo of the actual led

On this photo you can notice a different on the passenger side.

They're same oem bulbs. Just remove the cap and you're done. See first two photos for reference.

looking at the picture again, you're right the light source is no longer properly spread. Are you thinking of keeping it that way?

No, I will install the cap back. I really don't like the spot light.

I wonder if you could put something more transparent on there to allow more light to shine through while still spreading the light. Or possibly adding another led and reinstalling the original light diffuser?

Retrofiting another led is a good option however that will be more brighter what I want. I'll just install back the small diffuser and call it a day. Also I was thinking maybe getting a pair of light assembly from the 4G TL and retrofit them.

I would think you could drop any 12v LED in there it just depends on how bright you want it to be.

Now if you really want to get fancy, throw a dial in the mix so you can adjust the brightness.

The key is the amount of wattage that the LED is rated at, if you feed it to much it will blow but you should be able to get a bright LED and dial it back all day.

Sand the rounded top to be flat and you'll lose the spotlight effect..
